Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director, and the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager and the Lead Histologist, the Histologist is responsible for the efficient and accurate preparation of tissue and cytology specimens processed in the Histology Department to provide quality patient care. The Histologist ensures delivery of excellent patient care, customer service, and efficient and accurate analysis of specimens processed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION


Associate degree, Histology Technician Training in an accredited program, or demonstrated expertise in histologic techniques.


MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE


1-3 years in histology/pathology laboratory.


REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS


ASCP or equivalent.


REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES


Knowledge and skills for preparation of surgical specimens for Pathology to view.
