Summary
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) serves as a critical bridge between our core engineering teams and enterprise clients, operating at the convergence of software development, product design, and business operations. In this role, you will embed directly within complex client environments to deploy, tailor, and stabilize our software solutions. Unlike traditional consultants or support staff, you will function as a hands-on full-stack engineer, writing production code, resolving intricate legacy system challenges, automating difficult workflows, and translating field insights into actionable improvements for the central product roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Execute full-lifecycle technical deployments by building, configuring, and delivering production-ready integrations, custom microservices, ETL pipelines, and API adapters that seamlessly embed our platform into client infrastructures.
- Accelerate the transition from concept to reality by converting fragmented business needs into robust, functional software solutions within tight deadlines.
- Facilitate deep systems integration by connecting modern platforms with a wide array of client ecosystems, including legacy databases, enterprise ERPs and CRMs, message brokers, and various authentication standards.
- Partner closely with non-technical business leaders and operational teams to identify workflow bottlenecks, convert friction points into precise technical specifications, and drive successful user adoption.
Requirements
1. Engineering Foundations
- Possess 3-6+ years of professional software development experience in backend or full-stack languages such as Python, Go, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in data engineering and API development, including relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), schema design, REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Show practical expertise with containerization and cloud operations, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Understand enterprise security standards, including OAuth2, SAML/SSO, VPC networking, and role-based access control (RBAC).
2. Applied Problem Solving & Domain Empathy
- Exhibit a proven track record of rapidly mastering unfamiliar operational sectors (such as logistics, finance, staffing, healthcare, or supply chain) to grasp underlying business logic within weeks.
- Thrive in ambiguous environments, demonstrating comfort in executing tasks despite incomplete documentation, unstructured third-party data, or legacy client constraints.
- Maintain a pragmatic, action-oriented mindset that balances the need for high-quality architectural integrity with the urgency required to deliver operational value.
3. Stakeholder Communication
- Effectively communicate technical trade-offs, constraints, and architectural decisions to executive-level business sponsors.
- Translate specific operational edge cases and field limitations into clear, rigorous engineering tickets for the core product development teams.
Skills Required
- 3-6+ years of professional software development experience in backend or full-stack engineering
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Node.js, TypeScript, or Java
- Experience with data engineering and API development
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Experience with schema design, REST or GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging systems
- Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Knowledge of OAuth2, SAML/SSO, VPC networking, and role-based access control
- Ability to rapidly learn unfamiliar operational domains and business logic
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments with incomplete documentation and legacy constraints
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs and architectural decisions to executive-level stakeholders
- Ability to translate operational edge cases into clear engineering requirements
