A Snapshot

As the Extra High Voltage (EHV) Project Manager, you will be reporting to the Utility & Power Manager (based in Sydney) and work closely with the Technology, Development and Operations teams, making your mark in several ways:

  • Drive the Design and Construction of our EHV facilities and downstream substation High Voltage (SS HV) related systems to AirTrunk’s standard, exceeding local standards and requirements.
  • Provide practical solutions to development problems, predominately electrical, but use your EHV and sub-station experience to facilitate practical EHV arrangements and building solutions.
  • Control the EHV network topology during stage implementation construction works through to commissioning.
  • Review of Technical Requirements, Commissioning Scripts as well as attendance for any required Testing and Commissioning.
  • Control the EHV budget.
  • Assignment and onboarding of 2nd Class Electrical Engineer for each project.
  • Assist Development Project Managers in Utility Power supplier, Customer and project related discussions and negotiations.

Your Day to Day

  • Develop AirTrunk’s EHV development on-site networks both existing and new to exceed local code requirements and industry best practice.
  • Develop and manage the EHV network design on new and existing AirTrunk networks, advising on primary, secondary, SCADA, earthing and DC systems.
  • Provide continual improvement to the existing EHV systems designs by collaborating with the technology team during early design phases.
  • Specify and review AirTrunk’s EHV network owner supplied assets to all applicable specifications and required standards.
  • Negotiate at a technical level with supply authorities through the development process.
  • Supervise and collaborate with the general site contractor to ensure practical build solutions, on time, on budget and to approved AirTrunk requirements.
  • Work with Site Specialist in the resolution of incident related, standing, or emerging problems which fall outside of the local operations capacity.
  • Prepare or review MOP’s in conjunction with the Site Specialist for stage and implementation of existing networks.
  • Budget control of approved budgets, Identifying cost saving opportunities and system improvements
  • Assist in the successful resolve of post construction related punch list items.
  • Assist project and commissioning engineers with electrical related issues when required.
  • Assist if required, the authorising engineer specialist support to site teams.
  • Assist technology department reviews and provide operational guidance to designs.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with a utility or in electrical contracting as an EHV Engineer in Critical Facilities in Japan, minimum 10 years.
  • Extensive EHV substation design and construction experience for Critical Facilities in Japan, preferably in Data Centres.
  • Adequate understanding and experience in the Japanese construction market.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of EHV systems and assets such as switchgear, transformers, protection relays, DC systems, SCADA systems and EHV networks.
  • Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across different teams such as design, development and data centre operations teams.
  • Ability to interpret and correct electrical drawings and specifications utilising AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Asia-Pacific; previous APAC experience preferred.
  • Native or fluent-level Japanese and business-level English. The ability to interact with all professional levels within and outside our
