We are diverse, flexible, supportive, and we believe our team is our most important asset and offer a host of benefits and programs to ensure that they know it.
Swift Navigation is looking for a High-accuracy GNSS Algorithms Engineer to join the team to work on the Skylark corrections engine. You will be working at the cutting edge of satellite navigation technology, designing and implementing advanced GNSS algorithms within Swift's correction service. You will provide technical leadership across the Skylark engineering group, set the bar for engineering excellence, and own the full lifecycle of features from problem definition and prototyping through implementation, verification, and release.
As a Staff Engineer at Swift, you will be fundamental to the company's success. You will turn complex problems into solutions that meet the goals of the business while maintaining alignment with the broader technical vision and Skylark architecture.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Define, design, implement and document new features in Swift's GNSS corrections engine, with a focus on advanced user positioning algorithms (PPP/RTK), orbit/clock estimation and atmospheric modeling.
- Provide technical leadership on challenging, cross-cutting engineering projects spanning atmospheric modeling, correction generation, and message formatting.
- Take complex problems from target markets and customers and distill them into coherent technical strategies and execution plans.
- Drive clean software engineering practices through code reviews, design reviews, and architectural guidance to teammates and other Skylark teams.
- Act as a standard bearer for new technologies and techniques in GNSS positioning, balancing innovation against operational pragmatism.
- Proactively address technical debt and design systems for maximum utility across the Skylark product line.
- Collaborate with the team tech lead, PMs, and adjacent teams to ensure technical alignment across releases.
- Mentor engineers across the team, including senior ICs, and contribute to the development of the broader Skylark engineering group.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong background in GNSS positioning algorithms, ideally PPP, RTK, or SSR-based correction systems.
- Deep understanding of atmospheric effects on GNSS signals (ionosphere, troposphere) and approaches to model and mitigate them.
- Demonstrated technical leadership on large-scale projects delivered to production.
- Modern C++, with the ability to write clean, performant, well-tested code.
- Experience working iteratively with strong cross-functional communication across engineering, product, and customer-facing stakeholders.
- Git or equivalent version control systems, and modern software engineering practices (CI, code review, automated testing).
Desired Skills/Experience
- Hands-on experience with estimation techniques (Kalman/least-squares estimation, multi-kernel approaches, Gaussian processes).
- Scientific computing and signal processing fundamentals.
- Strong proficiency in Python for scientific analysis and algorithmic prototyping.
- Software architecture design at the service or system level.
- Cloud-based GNSS correction services and the operational constraints they bring.
- Open-source contribution and thought leadership in the GNSS or geospatial community.
- An enthusiastic, self-motivated approach to learning and exploring new technologies.
Swift Navigation is a diverse and inclusive team. We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to apply regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability status or other defining characteristics.
Swift Navigation will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of SFPC Art.49.

What We Do
Swift Navigation, Inc. has been redefining GNSS positioning technology since 2012. What began as the industry’s first low-cost, high-accuracy, real-time kinematic (RTK) receiver has evolved into an ecosystem of GNSS positioning solutions for autonomous applications. The Starling® Positioning Engine is an integrated software solution for precise positioning while the Skylark™ Cloud Corrections Service delivers GNSS corrections across the contiguous U.S.—eliminating traditional geographical restrictions. Piksi® Multi and ruggedized Duro® and Duro Inertial RTK receivers deliver centimeter-level accuracy at an affordable price, making them ideal for commercial and industrial applications. Swift Navigation’s technology benefits a multitude of industries and applications—including autonomous vehicles, precision agriculture, robotics, rail, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and surveying. Swift Navigation is enabling a future of autonomous vehicles to navigate and understand the world. Its products deliver 100 times better accuracy than the GPS in a cell phone—at a fraction of the price of the competition. By optimizing inexpensive, off-the-shelf cell components with sophisticated software, Swift Navigation has built a reputation for defining a new category of GNSS systems as the industry’s first low-cost, high-accuracy RTK receiver. Swift Navigation is enabling a world where fields farm themselves, drones fly safely and autonomous transportation can take you home. Visit the company online at www.swiftnav.com.
