This role is suited to an experienced manager who is passionate about quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This is a foundational role in a growing business unit, with the opportunity for professional growth as the integrated system matures.
You will work closely with core systems teams and stakeholders across the business to identify opportunities to integrate management systems within BDA's Joint Systems Business Unit and develop a practical roadmap to achieve this. This is a build-and-improve role, where you will inherit two established but separately managed systems and lead the design of an integration approach of a safety and quality framework for a highly innovative business, that improves efficiency and product safety, while maintaining compliance.
This first-line manager role is ideal for a leader who enjoys process improvement as much as operational execution, and who can apply a pragmatic approach in a complex, highly technical, innovative, and regulated environment. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Quality and Safety Management, and is based in Brisbane.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), Safety Management System (SMS), and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) systems within the Joint Systems business unit.

- Identify practical integration opportunities that reduce duplication and deliver measurable business value.
- Develop a phased integration plan with clear milestones, resource requirements, and risk considerations.
- Engage key stakeholders across Joint Systems, core systems teams, and senior leadership to align integration activities with business unit and program priorities and drive the organisational change management required for successful system adoption.
- Maintain regulatory and certification compliance throughout the transition.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years' experience in quality management, EHS, or operations roles, and the ability to integrate these disciplines over being a subject matter expert in every ISO clause.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Project planning skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to analyse systems, identify gaps, and design practical solutions.
- Change Management experience to support the seamless embedding of integration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and influence key stakeholders.
- First-line people management experience, or strong readiness to step-in.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain a Defence Security clearance with Australian Government Security Vetting Agency and be cleared for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
