General Job Duties:

Specific Job Duties:
- To lead, direct and follow Company health and safety objectives that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar employees.
- Exemplify the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace.
- Demonstrate awareness for the safety of others in the work environment.
- Integrate safety into all element of the organization.
- Make every effort to eliminate hazardous conditions and practices.
- Inspect examination of workplace condition to ensure they conform to applicable standards.
- Demonstrates commitment and support personnel to reducing the impacts of its operation on the environment.
- Manage health, and safety activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation and direction of safety team.
- Guide the development and implementation of the Health and Safety policies and programs.
- Investigate and maintain records for all work related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist department management in the development of effective health and safety counter-measures to continuously improve safety objective.
- Oversee the Worker’s Compensation Program and implement an effective plan for minimizing and reducing worker injuries and associated costs in relationship to measurable data from State of Georgia and South Carolina sources.
- Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, ANSI, ADA, Fire Codes, and serve as a liaison with area OSHA representatives.
- Serve on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the JHSC.
- Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and establish measurable standards from which further recommendations (continuous improvement) can be made, with effective follow-up.
- Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Understand and maintain your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace.
- Follow all safety guidelines and usage of all Personal Protective
- Have knowledge of your responsibility regarding health and safety in the workplace and be able to communicate the existence of any potential or actual danger to the employee including setting and maintaining clear, written goals.
- Understand the employee’s rights under the OSHA Act and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.
- Cooperate with OSHA/State OSHA inspectors.
- Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
- Know and maintain the safety rules for Decostar Industries.
- Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.
- Do not use, operate or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may endanger any persons, including yourself. Ensure Management of Change process are followed.
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately, including injuries, accidents, illnesses, and property damage.
- Make sure you and any other employees are trained on any machinery or equipment that you/they are to use.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field of study.
- Master’s degree, preferred
- Advanced Safety Training Certificates, preferred
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated strength with analytical/problem solving, interpersonal, team building, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task on key projects.
- Must have working knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics.
- Must have strong computer skills in a Windows platform, with strong knowledge of Excel.
- Minimum five years’ experience successfully leading Health and Safety programs, preferably in Manufacturing, Injection Molding and Painting facilities.
- Must have experience with ISO45001 and demonstrated strength in implementing management successful systems.
- Must have positive and powerful leadership orientation.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing, walking, or sitting for extended amounts of time.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently.
- Ability to lift up to15 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis is required.
- Be able to work near chemicals; alcohols, solvent, paints, or plastic sanding dust.
- Work below the knees and above the shoulders will be required.
- Good vision at a close distance and the ability to distinguish color is required with or without the use of corrective lenses.
- This position requires the ability to hear alarms with or without the use of hearing aids.
Training Requirements:
- You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
