The Role
Head of Product ZINIA - OPENBANK

Country: Spain

Openbank Pay is the new checkout lending platform of the Santander Group. Openbank Pay makes shopping simple, offering the possibility of splitting payments into interest-free installments in a fast and transparent way, powering merchants across Europe.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your contribution over a growing market within the business areas of lending, cobranded credit cards and buy-now-pay-later with a solid expansion across different countries with global leading merchants.

Openbank Pay leverages the technological resources and expertise of Openbank, the digital-native bank of the Santander Group, which is currently rolling out its international expansion plans. Through a simple and flexible banking model, Openbank offers customers the possibility to manage their finances on the website or app.

Role Summary

We’re looking for a hands-on, AI-native Head of Product to shape the future of Openbank Pay’s BNPL, installments, and digital lending products. This role is ideal for a product leader who is passionate about building from first principles, thrives in fast-moving environments, and understands how to turn AI and agentic technologies into real customer and business value.

You will own the strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end execution for Openbank Pay’s multi-product portfolio, while ensuring the platform is ready for the emerging world of agentic commerce — LLMs, intelligent agents, and developer ecosystems.

This is a chance to build one of Europe’s most innovative BNPL and lending platforms at global scale.
Key responsibilities:

Be a Hands-On Product Builder

  • Be a ‘player-coach’ product leader. Know the details, challenge the assumptions, and lead by example as much as by coaching and mentoring.
  • Drive a hypothesis-based, customer-focused product development methodology based on cross-functional discovery, design thinking from day 1, short, purposeful sprints delivering measurable value, continuous delivery and performance optimization.
  • Ensure that the development team is always working from clear, structured functional specs, which serve as the beginning of a conversation, not a hand-off of responsibility.
  • Build a culture of experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven iteration.

Lead AI-Native Product Strategy

  • Define the product vision across BNPL, installments, and consumer lending.
  • Build AI-ready experiences, including LLM-driven journeys, agentic flows, and intelligent interfaces.
  • Drive Openbank Pay’s evolution into an agent-first platform (APIs, SDKs, AI toolkits).

Scale BNPL & Lending Products Internationally

  • Shape the consumer and merchant BNPL value proposition across markets.
  • Optimize underwriting, pricing, risk decisioning, and core lending mechanics in partnership with Risk & Data.
  • Drive high-performance funnels and conversion improvements.

Accelerate Growth

  • Own product-led growth strategies across acquisition, onboarding, and retention.
  • Identify scale opportunities, expansion markets, and feature bets backed by data.
  • Make decisions grounded in both user insights and commercial impact.

Work Cross-Functionally at the Highest Level

  • Collaborate with Engineering, AI/ML, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Commercial, and Operations.
  • Ensure products launch safely, compliantly, and with measurable outcomes.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across Openbank and the Santander Group.

Must-Haves

  • 12+ years in product management, including hands-on execution.
  • Proven experience in BNPL or consumer lending products.
  • Strong understanding of AI/LLM technologies, agentic commerce, or AI-driven product design.
  • Track record of building and scaling products in regulated fintech or banking environments.
  • Experience driving growth through product experimentation, funnels, and data insights.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience with developer-first products (APIs, SDKs, tools).
  • Familiarity with risk systems, underwriting, or payments infrastructure.
  • Experience launching products across multiple European markets.
  • Knowledge of PSD2/3, AML/KYC, AI Act, or other regulatory frameworks.

What do we offer?

  • Joining a dynamic and agile company undergoing international expansion.
  • Working in start-up mode with the support of the Santander Group.
  • Competitive remuneration and attractive benefits package.
  • Possibility of growth within the company and the Group.
  • Collaborating on international projects in different countries.
  • Excellent work environment, social clubs and frequent events.
