Head of Politics & Political Output

Role Overview:

Sky News is looking for an exceptional leader for its award-winning Westminster team who’ll take responsibility for our end-to-end political journalism across digital, TV, and audio platforms.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a stellar record in political journalism combined with an ability to lead the best reporters on the Westminster beat.

A thorough understanding of all Sky News platforms is essential, as is a fresh strategy for the Sky News politics team in the context of the Sky News 2030 project.

What you'll do:

• Leading Sky News cross-platform political journalism – directing and delivering high-impact Premium and Breaking & Live journalism

• Running the digital & TV political reporting teams, the Political Editor unit, political programmes (Politics Hub, special programming, Sunday…), and political podcasts (PAJAS and Electoral Dysfunction)

• Setting and developing the editorial strategy for Sky News political journalism across digital, audio, and TV

• Maintaining relations with the highest levels of the UK government and opposition parties

What you'll bring:

• A track record in leading political journalism at a national level

• First class leadership and communication skills

• A proven ability to establish and maintain contacts with senior politicians and government

• An understanding of all Sky News platforms combined with an aptitude for the latest digital and data lead story telling techniques

• The necessary strategic mindset to take Sky News political journalism to the next level in the context of the Sky News 2030 project to establish a premium, video first newsroom, built for a digital future

• A commitment to decency, integrity, and doing the right thing
