The Role
About Us:

Alaya is a place where dreams take shape and grow. Originally founded as Home Loan Experts in 2007, the company expanded its reach by establishing HLE Nepal in 2012, which later rebranded to Alaya. This transformation signifies Alaya's unwavering commitment to supporting not only its customers and clients but also its community and colleagues. Alaya goes beyond being a mortgage industry leader, offering a boundless place of limitless potential where individuals can dedicate their hearts, flourish, and shine. Alaya redefines the power of place, becoming “Your Place” to dedicate your heart, to flourish, and to shine.
Alaya and Home Loan Experts offer more than mortgage expertise; it's a place where you can thrive. Here, we value Passion, Care, and Oneness—caring deeply for our team and embracing unity.  Together, the Alaya team operates as one, united in their mission to help people realise their dreams.

About the Role

The Head of People and Culture is a strategic leader responsible for helping Alaya and Home Loan Experts become Nepal’s #1 employer for culture, learning, and life-changing opportunities.

This is not a conventional HR role.

You will shape culture, grow leaders, drive cross-border unity, and help set a new benchmark for what a modern, high-trust, high-performance workplace can look like.

You’ll work closely with both the Nepalese and Australian teams to embed a culture of courage, fairness, and performance — and you’ll do it differently from the norm: faster, braver, smarter.

Major Responsibilities  Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute People and Culture strategies that support our mission of becoming Nepal’s #1 employer.
  • Partner with senior leaders to integrate global best practices while staying true to our values of Care, Passion, and Oneness.

Cross-Cultural Expertise

  • Lead and influence across Nepalese and Australian teams — creating an environment where respect, inclusion, and results thrive across cultures.
  • Bring global leadership insights into a local context, bridging cultural gaps while upholding international standards.
Talent Development
  • Build world-class hiring, training, leadership development, and succession programs.
  • Champion a performance and values-based culture: who we promote and reward matters as much as what we achieve.
Culture Transformation
  • Lead the evolution of our culture to be high-trust, meritocratic, courageous, and future-ready — core foundations for being the employer of choice.
  • Embed a working environment where ideas are shared openly, respect is earned through results and behaviour, and healthy, direct conversations are normal.
  • Champion a culture that reflects global best practices — combining Australian-style directness, Nepalese warmth, and world-class standards of leadership and collaboration.
  • Inspire teams to move beyond traditional models of hierarchy — building a workplace where performance, ownership, and contribution are the true currencies of success.
Risk and Compliance
  • Maintain strict compliance with labour laws in Nepal and Australia, and support alignment with our Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards.
Innovation and Change
  • Act as a cultural architect — designing new ways of working, leading, and growing that break from the conventional.
  • Lead change management initiatives with empathy, speed, and strategic clarity — ensuring we stay future-ready and true to our mission.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or HR certification preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Proven international experience: working in, with, or across multiple cultures.
  • Demonstrated success leading cultural transformation and leadership development programs in fast-evolving environments.
Skills & Competencies
  • Global Mindset: Skilled at navigating different cultural expectations, aligning teams around shared values and goals.
  • Culture Building: Expertise in driving positive culture change and embedding leadership behaviours at every level.
  • Leadership Development: Strong track record of coaching and growing high-potential leaders.
  • Strategic HR Management: Ability to align people strategies tightly with business needs and long-term vision.
  • Emotional Intelligence and Courage: Ability to tackle difficult conversations and systemic issues head-on, with empathy and fairness.
  • Change Leadership: Proven capability to lead organisations through structural and cultural change successfully.
  • Innovation Orientation: Willingness to challenge the status quo and design next-generation People and Culture practices.
  • Outstanding Communication Skills: Ability to influence, engage, and unite across levels and borders.

What’s In It For You:
  • A Passion-Driven Environment: Work with a team that’s passionate about what they do and driven to succeed.
  • Care for You: We prioritise your well-being, offering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Oneness in Diversity: Be part of a diverse team where every voice is heard and valued. Together, we celebrate our successes and grow stronger as one.
  • Comprehensive Benefits:
    • Competitive salary
    • Five Working Days (Mon-Fri)
    • Complimentary full breakfast
    • Working with cross-cultural teams across Australia and Nepal
    • Medical and accidental insurance coverage for you and two beneficiaries.
    • Exclusive Leaves:
      • 18 days of paid annual leave.
      • 12 days of paid sick leave.
      • 1 day floating leave
      • 13 days of paid public holidays (Extra 1 day for female employees)
    • Various exclusive bonuses, including profit, festival, book reading bonus and many more.
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for work-based counselling.
    • Employee engagement and well-being activities and events.

Work hours: 8 AM- 4 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break
