The Head of Operations will play a crucial role in managing and executing end-to-end operations of electric vehicles (EV) in GMCL’s fleet-as-a-service (FAAS) business.
This includes leading all pre-handover matters (ie: OEM, cargo box supplier, insurance provider, vehicle telematics, registration & inspection) to operations & maintenance as well as end-of-life for the vehicles, whilst ensuring the highest quality of service to our customers.
Responsibilities
Strategy Planning & Execution:
- Lead fleet management scaling strategies, identify process improvements, and support Business Development with operational inputs for customer negotiations;
- Analyze and streamline operational processes using lean management principles and technology solutions to reduce costs and improve service delivery.
Manage and oversight on fleet suppliers
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers (OEM, telematics, Ops & Maintenance support) to ensure that customer requirements (e.g. service levels, customized cargo box) are met;
- Understand product roadmap of vehicles and work together with Business Development team to strategize and propose product offerings;
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and technical support to ensure fleet reliability and performance.
End-to-end fleet management:
- Oversee the management of the entire EV fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements;
- Ensure timely & seamless handover of EV fleet to customers in accordance to customer specifications;
- Oversee all after-sales support for the EV fleet units such as preventative and corrective maintenance of the vehicles. Work closely with the technical team to resolve issues promptly and efficiently. Ensure leased vehicles are returned according to agreed terms with customer, refurbished and/or disposed in compliance with Thai laws and regulations;
- Optimise fleet utilization including handling of inventory and customer satisfaction.
Telematics & Data Monitoring:
- Manage the integration of EV telematics, fleet management software, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance:
- Stay abreast of local regulations, policies, and incentives related to vehicle Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). Work closely with Center of Excellence (COE) HSE teams to adopt HSE policies in accordance to local regulations;
- Ensure fleet is in full compliance with local Thailand regulations including any policies on EVs, transportation, and/or environmental standards.
- Engage with government authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Advocate for supportive policies and initiatives that facilitate the growth of the green mobility sector.
Stakeholder management
- Effectively communicate with fleet customers and partners on how GMCL can serve their operational needs;
- Work closely with COE team in headquarters to ensure best operational practices for fleet management and operational processes, ensuring GMCL delivers the best service standards for customers;
- Ensure effective communication and visibility to the management, board and shareholders by regularly presenting reports on operational goal settings and metrics alongside the performance/corrective actions of the fleet operations.
Performance Monitoring, Reporting and Analytics
- Establish KPIs, metrics, and performance tracking mechanisms to monitor fleet assets’ operational performance;
- Present monthly reporting and analysis to management and COE team whilst identifying areas for improvement along with initiatives;
- Maintain accurate & timely records of operational activities, client interactions, and progress towards goals.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Automotive/Mechanical/Electrical engineering or other related field;
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in operations & project management in transportation and/or clean energy sector;
- Strong understanding of fleet operations and logistics as well as Thailand’s fleet market dynamics, consumer behavior, and regulatory landscape;
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in fleet/VaaS market, including government/regulatory officials, industry leaders, and potential customer;
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word, CRM software and sales tools;
- Strong analytical and presentation skills with a data-driven mindset to monitor performance and make informed business decisions;
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Thai.
