On behalf of our client, we are seeking a commercially minded and results-oriented Head of Operations to lead end-to-end operational activities and ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective service delivery.

The successful candidate will oversee logistics, warehousing, distribution, fleet performance, and operational planning. This position requires an experienced leader capable of improving processes, managing large teams, and supporting a growing multi-location operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the organisation’s operational strategy, plans, budgets, and performance targets.
  • Oversee warehousing, inventory movement, transportation, fleet, and distribution activities.
  • Establish operational policies, standard operating procedures, and service-quality standards.
  • Monitor productivity, turnaround time, delivery accuracy, utilisation, cost, and customer-service indicators.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure sufficient workforce, equipment, systems, and infrastructure are available to support operations.
  • Manage operational budgets and identify sustainable cost-saving opportunities.
  • Establish controls to minimise stock losses, damages, delivery failures, fraud, and operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, transport, environmental, and other applicable requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate regional and departmental operations teams.
  • Manage relationships with transporters, contractors, suppliers, and other service providers.
  • Work closely with commercial, customer experience, technology, and supply chain teams.
  • Prepare operational reports and present performance insights to senior management.
  • Develop business-continuity and operational-risk mitigation plans.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in Business Administration or Operations Management will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional certification in operations, logistics, project management, or continuous improvement is desirable.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, distribution, or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of four years in a senior management or multi-site leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large operational teams and third-party service providers.
  • Strong understanding of warehousing, fleet management, inventory movement, and distribution processes.
  • Experience managing budgets and implementing productivity or cost-optimisation initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, commercial judgement, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP, warehouse, transport, or other operational management systems.
