About the Role
The Head of Legal will be responsible for managing and executing all legal, regulatory, and governance matters across COLIBRIX ONE operations in multiple jurisdictions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company operates in full compliance with applicable financial services regulations, while providing practical legal support to business teams, product development, and strategic initiatives.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, Compliance, Risk, and Corporate Governance teams, the Head of Legal will act as a hands-on legal leader, directly handling complex regulatory matters, contracts, and operational legal issues, while also advising senior management on key decisions in a fast-growing fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute all legal and regulatory matters across the Group’s operations in the EU and UK
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, including EMI, payments law, AML/CFT, GDPR, and related regulatory frameworks
- Serve as the primary legal contact with external parties on all matters related to the Group
- Provide hands-on legal advice to senior management and the Board on legal, regulatory, and governance considerations
- Review, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts and proposed amendments, providing practical, business-focused guidance
- Provide legal support for new products, payment solutions, and market expansions
- Develop, implement, and maintain legal policies, governance frameworks, and internal controls
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across business activities
- Manage external legal advisors and support the development and strengthening of the internal legal function
Requirements
- Master’s degree in International Law or equivalent legal qualification
- Qualified Legal Counsel in the international jurisdiction
- 7+ years of post-qualification experience in financial services, payments, fintech
- Strong knowledge of EMI regulation, payments law, AML/CFT, GDPR, and related regulatory frameworks
- Hands-on experience reviewing, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts
- Experience managing external legal advisors and contributing to internal legal function development
- Strong commercial mindset, able to provide practical, business-focused legal advice
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated, and scaling environment
- Fluent in Russian and English
