About The Role

At Counsel Health, we’re building in a space where thoughtful legal guidance is core to how we grow. We’re hiring our founding Head of Legal to help shape the company at an important stage, when strong legal and compliance leadership can unlock growth, protect the business, and make it easier for teams to move quickly with confidence.

This is a foundational role. You’ll work across commercial, corporate, and healthcare regulatory matters, and you’ll help build the legal function from the ground up. You’ll partner closely with leaders across the company to support new commercial deals, navigate the regulatory landscape, and establish the compliance systems we need to scale responsibly.

Reporting to the SVP of Finance & Operations, we’re looking for someone who brings sound judgment, a practical commercial mindset, and a genuine excitement for helping an ambitious company grow in a complex regulatory environment. The right person will know how to balance risk with momentum and will be motivated by building the legal backbone of a company with meaningful impact.

 
 
What You'll Do
  • Partner with teams across the company on a wide range of legal questions, helping the business move quickly and thoughtfully

  • Lead commercial legal work, including customer, vendor, and partner agreements

  • Build scalable legal and compliance processes that support growth without creating unnecessary friction

  • Own key healthcare regulatory and compliance areas

  • Help design the legal and compliance infrastructure behind our insurance billing operations

  • Support privacy and information security work tied to customer needs, diligence processes, and future financings

  • Support equity and debt financings and help manage broader corporate matters

  • Oversee ongoing work across employment, IP, governance, tax, and other core legal responsibilities

  • Help define what a great in-house legal function looks like at Counsel Health

What You'll Bring
  • Experience early in your career at a top-tier law firm, ideally in a corporate practice

  • Deep experience in healthcare, either as counsel to healthtech companies or in-house at a healthcare or healthtech business

  • A practical, business-minded approach to legal work

  • Strong judgment and the ability to balance risk, speed, and company priorities

  • Comfort working independently and owning complex legal matters from start to finish

  • Experience managing outside counsel and driving important workstreams forward without close oversight

  • Excitement about building systems, processes, and a function from the ground up
