Key Responsibilities
Innovation & AI Leadership
- Lead the development and delivery of innovation programmes with a strong emphasis on AI, data, and emerging technologies
- Translate AI concepts into practical use cases for industry, including SMEs
- Champion responsible, ethical, and human‑centred AI adoption aligned with Jersey’s values and regulatory environment
- Act as a trusted point of reference on how AI can be applied to improve productivity, services, and decision‑making
Programme & Project Delivery
- Lead and coordinate a portfolio of innovation and technology projects and programmes from concept, approval and mobilisation through to delivery and evaluation
- Ensure initiatives are outcome‑driven, well‑governed, and aligned with Digital Jersey’s strategic objectives and Impact Jersey’s programme aims
- Maintain oversight of risks, dependencies, budgets, and delivery milestones
- As required, support Impact Jersey programmes to contribute to solving Island-wide challenges through technology-led solutions
Funding & Proposal Development
- Lead the development of compelling funding proposals, business cases, and programme bids
- Secure and deploy funding for innovation, AI‑related and Impact Jersey initiatives, working closely with the Government of Jersey, Digital Jersey members and external funders
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement
- Act as a senior interface with government departments, regulators, industry leaders, technology providers, and delivery partners
- Build trusted relationships that enable experimentation, collaboration, and adoption of new technologies
- Support organisations across the island to build confidence and capability in using AI and digital tools
- Organise or oversee workshops with industry, government and other stakeholders to scope problems and validate programme designs
- Build relationships with technology suppliers and delivery partners
Team & Delivery Leadership
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, delivery partners, and contributors
- Set clear expectations around delivery quality, pace, and accountability
- Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement
- Act as a visible ambassador for Digital Jersey across industry events, partnerships and digital channels.
- Build awareness of Jersey’s innovation ecosystem through LinkedIn thought leadership, programme and event promotion, and sharing organisational content.
- Support the profile of Digital Jersey by championing innovation activity, member success stories and strategic initiatives through professional networks and public engagement.
Problem Solving & Execution
- Identify barriers to innovation and adoption early and intervene pragmatically
- Balance ambition with realism, ensuring projects deliver tangible outcomes rather than activity for its own sake
Reporting & Governance
- Provide clear, concise reporting to the CEO, team, Board, Government, and other stakeholders
- Ensure appropriate governance, assurance, and evaluation mechanisms are in place
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Proven experience leading complex projects or programmes in innovation, technology, or digital environments
- Strong understanding of AI, data, and emerging technologies, with the ability to explain them clearly to non‑technical audiences
- Experience developing funding proposals, business cases, or programme bids, ideally including public-sector or grant-funded programmes
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across public and private sectors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence facilitating workshops, presenting findings and translating research into clear recommendations
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical, STEM or interdisciplinary field
- Experience supporting organisations to adopt new technologies or ways of working
- Familiarity with public‑sector, regulatory, or quasi‑public delivery environments
- Experience working with AI use cases related to productivity, automation, data analysis, or service improvement
