This is a full-time, in-person role based in San Francisco (Presidio) - we work from the office 5 days a week.
You must be based in the Bay Area or willing to relocate before starting.
We require US work authorisation, but are open to O-1 visa sponsorship for truly exceptional candidates.
Wordware is an IDE for building AI agents using natural language.
It looks and feels like Notion, but lets you design, test, and deploy AI systems in real time - without writing code.
Our mission is to bring structure and joy to human–AI collaboration.
We’re building a generational company that empowers the next billion knowledge workers to create with AI - not by writing code, but by expressing intent.
We’re backed by Spark Capital, Felicis, and Y Combinator ($30M seed round - the largest in YC history).
We work hard, move fast, and don’t take ourselves too seriously. It’s intense, but it’s also fun - at Wordware, you’ll do the best work of your life alongside people you genuinely like.
not necessarily a software engineer, but you've written code before and understand how things work under the hood. maybe you still dabble in frontend or have side projects. the point is: you need to deeply get our product and our users. implementing your simple ideas into main product and doing experiments in this way, would make your and my lives easier.**
You will also be selling 😲
being real: this is a hard role to fill. i (Filip) am currently heading growth and will be opportunistic about finding the right person.
you need to be able to say in two sentences something so impressive it will make me want to talk to you immediately. if that doesn't come to mind, don't apply.
the actual challenge: we have 350k users and are defining a new category (natural language ai development). we need someone who can turn "building AI with plain english" into a movement. someone who's already done something similar and knows exactly how to take "interesting tool" to "holy shit, this is the future."
the bigger picture: we're not just talking to traditional developers. we're reaching the next 500 million people who will be "coding" with plain english - lawyers, designers, product managers, founders, and domain experts of all kinds. this means threading an impossible needle: deep enough for engineers, accessible enough for everyone else, and compelling enough to show both groups why this matters.
success of your role
based on revenue + MAUs! If you dont like KPIs also dont apply
turning tinkerers into advocates
making prosumers see deployment potential
getting enterprise to trust a new paradigm
managing full-funnel growth (yes, including sales pipeline for now)
building multiple scalable acquisition channels
you probably:
have grown a tool/platform from <100k to millions of users
built and scaled multiple viral loops that actually worked
know how to make technical content spread like wildfire
managed sales pipelines (maybe)
can spot growth opportunities others miss
understand both technical and business metrics
have done this before at a similar stage ($1-20m ARR)
(!!) are technical enough to understand and explain our product
(!!) can handle data analysis and growth engineering
technical requirements (need some, not all):
ability to analyze usage patterns in posthog
experience with lead scoring and PQL/MQL processes
familiarity with data enrichment tools
can handle programmatic SEO
comfortable with marketing automation
enough SQL/analytics to make data-driven decisions
willing to learn what you don't know or manage freelancers who do
real talk:
you'll work directly with me (Filip, CEO)
sf only - no remote
we don't need growth tips, we need someone who's done it and keen to do it again
vc funding ($30m biggest out of YC seed) means nothing if we can't make this the default way to build with ai
you enjoy weird company culture, we host crossbow competitions on sunday (really), our new office is 30m from the sea and has a sauna
ps: we're backed by spark capital, felicis, and y combinator ($30m seed — biggest out of YC round) but we still work like a seed startup. and yes, the office will have a sauna and be 30m from the sea 🥵
