About the company
Our client is an early-stage legal technology company helping startups run their legal function with less friction. Its platform brings together experienced attorneys, AI, and purpose-built software in a flat monthly service, giving founders practical legal support without hourly billing surprises. The pre-seed company has raised $2.3M in total funding and has built a customer base of roughly 50-60 startups.
The role / why it matters
As Head of Growth, you will build the company’s top-of-funnel engine from the ground up and turn early customer traction into a repeatable source of qualified pipeline. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape the growth strategy, execute it yourself, and grow a team as the strongest channels prove out.
What you'll do
• Own the qualified pipeline target and refine the ideal customer profile with the CEO.
• Build and run outbound campaigns across email, LinkedIn, warm introductions, and founder networks.
• Develop organic and earned growth through founder-focused content, customer stories, launches, and public relations.
• Create referral partnerships with venture firms, accelerators, and other organizations serving startups.
• Plan founder dinners, workshops, and other community events that build trusted relationships with prospective customers.
• Build the data and automation layer for growth, instrument the funnel, and run frequent experiments.
• Hire the first growth team members as repeatable channels emerge.
What we're looking for
• 2-6 years of experience in growth, with hands-on ownership of top-of-funnel work at an early-stage startup.
• A record of personally generating pipeline through a mix of outbound, organic, and earned channels.
• Practical experience with modern go-to-market tools for enrichment, sequencing, and CRM.
• The ability to build lightweight automations with scripts or no-code tools and use funnel data to guide decisions.
• Strong writing for social posts, cold outreach, landing pages, and event invitations.
• Confidence representing a company with founders in person, on camera, and in public settings.
Bonus points
• Experience as a founder, early team member, or growth builder at a startup backed by Y Combinator or Andreessen Horowitz.
• An existing audience or network among startup founders and operators.
• Experience creating founder communities, hosting events, or building startup ecosystem partnerships.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary range is $125,000-$175,000 USD, with a bonus tied to qualified pipeline metrics and uncapped performance upside. OTE potential is $250,000+ based on performance. The role includes meaningful founding-team equity, health and dental coverage, and a 401(k).
Location / work model
This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, with three days per week in the office. Relocation to the Bay Area may be considered for exceptional candidates.
