Summary Generated by Built In

Allswell is building the leading mental health company for the LGBTQ+ community. Affirming, high-quality care is still hard to find and harder to afford, and we are fixing that with a specialized clinical model, technology that makes our clinicians more effective, and insurance coverage that puts real care within reach.

The clinical outcomes are strong and the growth is fast. Since launching we have served hundreds of clients across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, in-network with Medicaid and major commercial plans in all three. 79% of clients report reduced depression and 72% report reduced anxiety after 60 or more days of care.

We are expanding our services and footprint quickly, and building the team to match. Backed by leading healthcare and impact investors, we have the runway to do it right.

This is our first dedicated finance and operations hire. You will own the financial engine and operational backbone of the company and build most of it from scratch, with the CEO and both co-founders as direct partners.

What you'll own

  • Strategic finance: Serve as financial thought partner to the CEO, co-founders, and board, and build the models, forecasts, and scenario analyses that drive decisions and fundraising.

  • FP&A and reporting: Own budgeting, forecasting, unit economics, and the dashboards and KPI reporting that professionalize how we track the business.

  • Cross-functional partnership: Partner with clinical, growth, and product leaders to build budgets, evaluate pricing, and measure ROI.

  • Accounting and close: Oversee our external accountant and bookkeeper across AP/AR, reconciliations, collections, and compliance, and run month-end close plus payroll and benefits (Rippling).

  • Revenue cycle: Own RCM end to end with our billing partner, from claims submission through denials, eligibility verification, collections, and remittance, and analyze payer economics across our geographies and contracts.

  • Clinician and credentialing operations: Own therapist onboarding, offboarding, and enrollment end to end, delegating execution as the team grows.

  • Systems and compliance: Build the SOPs and vendor management that let us add clinicians and states without breaking.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years in finance and/or operations, ideally at a venture-backed healthcare or healthtech company.

  • You’ve worked in an excellent finance or operations team and you’re ready to build your own.

  • Hands-on FP&A and modeling, fluent in GAAP and month-end close. Familiar with healthtech unit economics and metrics.

  • Exposure to healthcare revenue cycle, payer contracting, or Medicaid and commercial reimbursement (strongly preferred).

  • SQL knowledge or interest in learning to pull and analyze data directly.

  • Comfortable as the only finance person in the room, building rather than inheriting.

  • Detail-obsessed and analytically rigorous, without dropping compliance.

  • Bachelor's in finance, accounting, economics, or related; MBA or CPA a plus.

  • Owner mentality / highly comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Communication skills – translate complex analysis into clear insights & recommendations.

What we'd love to see

  • A deep passion for transforming how LGBTQ+ people access affirming, insurance-covered mental health care.

  • Experience leading the financial complexity of scaling a high-growth healthcare business, ideally across multiple states and payers.

  • A track record of working efficiently and effectively cross-functionally.

Why you'll like working at Allswell

  • The mission: we are building the definitive mental health company for the LGBTQ+ community, and the work changes clients' lives.

  • The scope: own finance and operations end to end from the ground up, with a direct line to the CEO and both co-founders.

  • The trajectory: a growing business with strong outcomes and fast expansion, and room to build your function as we scale

  • The benefits: health, dental, and vision, plus unlimited PTO.

  • The team: a queer-led company that takes the work seriously and holds a high bar.

  • Allswell is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status, and we especially welcome candidates from the communities we serve.

Skills Required

  • 6+ years of experience in finance and/or operations
  • Hands-on FP&A and financial modeling experience
  • Fluency in GAAP and month-end close
  • Experience with healthtech unit economics and metrics
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • Healthcare revenue cycle, payer contracting, or Medicaid and commercial reimbursement experience
  • Experience at a venture-backed healthcare or healthtech company
  • SQL knowledge or willingness to learn
  • MBA or CPA
  • Experience leading finance for a high-growth healthcare business across multiple states and payers
  • Strong cross-functional communication and analytical skills
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
