Head of Finance - 12 month FTC

What started as a way for GPs to text a patient has now evolved into an all-in-one digital toolkit used by 98% of GP practices.

Our platform now powers Total Triage to manage patient demand, and Self-Book, which lets patients schedule their own appointments in seconds. We’ve automated routine care with Patient Questionnaires for long-term conditions, while Accumail finally allows staff-to-staff communication to happen instantly across different care settings. We’re now pushing the boundaries of the consultation itself with Accurx Scribe, our AI-powered note-taker that drafts medical notes in real-time.

We’re not just shipping features. We’re giving clinicians their time back and ensuring every patient journey is as smooth as it should be.

Our finance function continues to evolve, and we are looking for a driven finance leader to step in for a 12-month maternity cover, to keep our momentum going and materially upgrade how finance supports our commercial teams. You will run the core finance engine to a high standard, while taking this window of opportunity to raise the bar on commercial reporting, providing real margin insight, and ensuring finance has a genuine seat at the table in commercial decision-making.

• Elevating the finance function: Moving beyond just keeping the lights on to fundamentally changing what "good" looks like for us and raising the bar in our reporting capability.

• Driving trading insights: Developing core trading metrics and improving the speed, quality, and usefulness of commercial reporting to give leadership clear visibility of progress and risk.

• Running the core engine: Overseeing all accounting, financial operations, treasury, and compliance, while managing the annual audit, budget, and quarterly forecasts.

• Commercial business partnering: Acting as the lead finance partner to the commercial team by embedding yourself in planning and influencing decisions, rather than just reporting on them after the fact.

• Margin and cost optimisation: Owning key trading initiatives focused on margin improvement

• Automating for the future: Working alongside our data team to automate reporting through our data infrastructure and transition away from a reliance on spreadsheets.

• Team leadership: Managing and guiding an established, high-performing team of two direct reports (FP&A Manager and Finance Ops Manager), helping them increase their business impact.

• You have proven experience operating autonomously at a Finance Director, Head of Finance, or senior FP&A level, including line management of a finance team.

• P4rior experience in an interim role where you've left a high-performing function even better than you found it.

• You are a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

• You have a strong track record as a genuine business partner to commercial or trading functions, with specific examples of influencing decisions through financial insight.

• You have experience working within a mature-stage B2B SME, ideally in a fast-growing, PE/VC-backed business scaling between £30m and £200m.

• You are comfortable taking full ownership of the complete finance remit, spanning accounting, treasury, compliance, audit, and FP&A.

• You have experience collaborating with data teams to build, improve, and automate commercial reporting systems.

• You are a driver, not a passenger who can operate with minimal direction
