What you'll do:
Manage and grow a team of 5 software engineers, owning their delivery, development, and day-to-day leadership.
Own the engineering operating system: tooling, vendor lifecycle management, on-call staffing, and platform support, so engineers never lose time to broken processes or the wrong buy-versus-build decision.
Own engineering performance visibility: build and maintain shared metrics infrastructure across investment tracking, shipping pace, and quality, surfacing signals before they become problems.
Own investment bucket visibility and financial reporting for engineering, keeping data quality high and definitions consistent across the org.
Push the boundaries of how we build: champion agentic and LLM-powered workflows across the engineering org, ensuring we're using the latest AI tooling to ship faster and stay ahead as a technology-led education company
What we're looking for:
Proven experience leading a software engineering team, from delivery through to people development and performance management.
A strong engineering background as a Software Engineer, with the credibility to earn the trust of Engineers quickly and the judgement to make good decisions when they don't have all the answers.
The desire to also own shared tooling, systems, and infrastructure that the rest of the engineering function depends on.
Experience leveraging agentic workflows to speed up decisions, execution, and output, with a genuine interest in pushing that further.
