The Position: Head of Business Intelligence
We’re looking for a Head of Business Intelligence to lead data-driven decision-making at Sunfish. This person will be responsible for analyzing business performance, pricing strategy, and key financial metrics to drive strategic growth. They will translate complex data into actionable insights, build financial and operational models, and work cross-functionally to optimize our business strategy.
This candidate has operational experience in a fast-moving fintech, insurtech, or similar company managing data and analytics, building risk models, identifying trends, pricing optimization, and forecasting. In addition, they will have the opportunity to bring strategic vision, analytical acumen, and a deep understanding of risk processes to manage and report risk exposure of the business.
This role is a senior position and critical to help scale the business with the leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced startup and make a significant impact on our growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine pricing models and business forecasts to support growth and profitability
- Analyze internal data, scientific research, customer behavior, and portfolio performance to inform strategic decisions
- Build dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to track key business metrics and develop strategic direction
- Work closely with leadership on financial modeling, scenario planning, and opportunity assessment
- Identify risks and opportunities within our portfolio and recommend strategic actions
- Crafts key communications to be delivered to all various levels of the organization and board members.
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Deep expertise in data analytics, financial modeling, and strategic analysis
- Strong understanding of pricing strategy and unit economics
- Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative insights into clear business recommendations
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other analytics tools, as well as proficiency in tools such as SQL, Excel, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to execute: lead your own area of the business while working cross functionally across the business to help meet business objectives and drive growth
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in an early stage startup with a quantitative focus, such as a fintech or insurtech
- Healthcare experience is a plus

Compensation: $160,000 - $215,000 plus equity.
We also offer health insurance, an employee stipend for office equipment, 401K, and support your professional growth. We value diversity; and most of all, we care for our members and each other. We are in person (4 days a week in Los Angeles or 3 days a week in New York) and our offices include breakfast, snacks, and in Los Angeles, a free gym membership.
The estimated base salary range for this position does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
