Job Purpose

The Finance team is responsible for the budgetary process and cost control to help the Company achieve its objective which requires all members of the team to work closely with all departments across the business. Reporting into the FP&A Manager, the aim of the Management Accountant is to support activities related to planning, forecasting, budgeting, and producing the medium-term plan. 

Key Accountabilities

General strategic

Under the guidance of line management, assist in developing HCUK’s finance planning management with specific focus on: 

  • Monthly forecast  

  • Monthly reporting 

  • Scenario planning and stress testing 

  • Reviewing and updating of policies 

  • Budgeting/ Medium term planning 

  • Provide senior management with valuable information to assist in decision making.

Annual budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the FP&A Manager and Senior Management Team in producing the annual budget and mid-term forecasts, ensuring alignment with HCUK’s strategic objectives 

  • Provide ad hoc forecasts and planning outputs from the HCUK planning model as required. 

Validation of monthly forecasts

Reporting, validation and analysis of monthly forecasts figures to line manager and senior management with specific focus on: 

  • Revenue  

  • Commission including marketing support 

  • Tracking provision movement including Residual Value 

Planning Tool Development and Management

  • Build and maintain HCUK’s planning model, integrating internal commercial inputs, behavioural assumptions and relevant macro-economic data under the guidance of line management. 

  • Regularly review model performance to identify and implement forecasting and planning improvements. 

  • Maintain sufficient technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and perform local updates or enhancements to the tool. 

  • Support key aspects of planning tool development, including producing detailed scoping documentation and creating mechanisms to track and monitor delivery of improvements. 

  • Work closely with HCUK business areas to design effective model inputs and outputs 

  • Engage with third-party providers involved in planning tool development 

Marketing Fund

  • Work closely with the FP&A Manager to ensure the planning model aligns with the actuals for the treatment and recognition of the marketing fund and OEM support. 

Committee

  • Prepare the monthly Profit & Loss schedule for the Executive Finance Committee (EFC) looking at the Actuals vs Forecast vs Budget and provide insightful commentary.

Audit

  • Support the FP&A Manager in all matters related to the internal and external auditors.  

Policy & Procedure

  • Maintain up to date procedures and policies for all Finance functions (with exception of Treasury and Pricing) in line with Quality Assurance operation. 

Risk & Compliance

  • In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify risks, incidents, and breaches, in accordance with company policies and department procedures. 

Other

  • Carry out any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested.

  • Proactive Nature – Focused on gathering a variety of information to identify and organise data for analysis, challenge and decision-making as necessary. Independent; ability to operate effectively with minimal guidance. 

  • Communication - Able to deliver clear written and verbal communication across all levels of the business including to senior management.  

Required Experience and Expertise

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Relevant work experience or demonstrable knowledge in finance/accounting. 

  • Demonstrable excellent analytical skills and strong numerical abilities. 

  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel

  • Part qualified accountant with a recognised qualifying body 

The following would be beneficial for the role, but are not essential requirements: 

  • Good understanding of automotive financing business or IFRS 16 financial reporting standard 

  • Anaplan experience 

  • Additionally, it is expected that any candidate can display good communication skills, can exhibit the ability to make sound decisions when working under pressure, can work on their own initiative and has excellent interpersonal skills.

Other Information

  • HCUK employees are currently hybrid working (mixture of home/ office) at HCUK’s head office in Reigate, Surrey. Currently, a minimum of 2 days per week office attendance is required.

Remuneration Package

  • Competitive base salary ranging from approximately £37,000 - £42,000, depending on experience / expertise.

  • Eligibility for annual bonus up to 15% based on performance.                      

  • 27 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays, with flexible holiday options and additional leave after five years.

  • Company pension scheme with generous employer contributions.

  • Voluntary benefits allowance of £500 per annum, payable as cash or benefits.
