The Hardware Test Engineer II works closely with the Electrical Engineering department and other departments to support technical functions such as design, test, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, and components. Identifies functional problems and suggests resolutions, documents and analyzes test cases and provides regular progress reports. Ensures testing procedures are in compliance with any required industry specific standards. Coordinates with vendors or suppliers to develop and modify tests. Work is done under the direction of professional engineers or supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute hardware design verification test plans accurately and efficiently.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot at the PCBA and component level.
- Accurately capture and measure circuit signal integrity parameters, current consumption, and validating system compliance per product specifications.
- Perform acoustic measurements (sensitivity, frequency response, THD, SND, linearity, etc) of analog/digital microphones for microphone enabled handheld products.
- Utilize Matlab and GNU Octave to process and analyze captured audio measurements.
- Use mathematics, filter design, and circuit analysis principles to make decisions in debugging new circuit designs.
- Create professional product design verification and failure analysis reports.
- Support product development and sustaining engineering on circuit modification/rework, programming interface installation and microcontroller programming.
- Debug and determine root cause for failures during failure analysis investigations. Creating in-depth failure analysis reports to be shared with customers.
- Debug hardware/software integration issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve all issues related to the design and development of the hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot factory issues including test station setups, automated test system run-time errors, programming issues, test methodologies.
- Lead the development and qualification of test systems.
- Conduct component qualification evaluations.
- Conduct ESD testing per IEC 61000-4-2 standards and methodically troubleshoot behaviors observed during the test.
- Provide guidance, training, and support when necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 - 4 years of hardware testing experience at the PCBA and component level
- Strong foundation of electronic circuit theory with the ability to understand circuit functions from written or verbal instructions
- Extensive experience with Oscilloscopes, DC Power Analyzers, Signal Generators, DMM's, Power Supplies, and more
- Knowledge of OrCAD/Protel/Altium/PADS Schematic capture and Layout tools
- Electronic trouble-shooting skills at the PCBA and component level
- Experience with SMD Soldering and re-work
- Skilled in Python development is a plus
- Proficiency with PCs (Windows and Ubuntu)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in the English language
- High attention to details
- Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Quick learner and able to take direction
