Duties and Responsibilities
- Design/develop custom hardware enclosure solutions for electronic systems used in autonomous vehicles.
- Utilize off-the-shelf components to create efficient and cost-effective hardware designs.
- Identify and select suitable vendors for sourcing components and materials.
- Oversee and supervise vendor activities to ensure quality and timely delivery of components.
- Ensure hardware designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform testing and validation of hardware solutions to ensure durability and performance in rugged environments.
- Conduct failure analysis and implement improvements to enhance hardware reliability.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and technical drawings.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in hardware materials and technologies.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. (Advanced degrees preferred)5-10 years’ experience.
- Proven experience in hardware design for electronic systems, preferably in the GNSS, robotics, or autonomous vehicle industries.
- Strong knowledge of off-the-shelf components and materials used in electronic hardware.
- Experience in vendor selection, negotiation, and supervision.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing hardware solutions.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for electronic hardware.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
Extra Credit
- Experience with hardware solutions for rugged and harsh environments.
- Knowledge of thermal management and EMI/EMC considerations in hardware design.
