About the Role

This role exists to fix one clear gap: Carousell Mobile Malaysia's social media presence is well behind what our Singapore and Indonesia teams have built. We need someone who can own social media end-to-end, from content creation to channel strategy, and bring our social game up to that same level.

This is primarily a content and social media strategy role. The large majority of your time will go into planning, creating, and running our presence across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, building a content engine that actually drives engagement and demand, not just posting for the sake of it. Alongside that, you'll also get exposure to the business growth side, helping with partnerships and commercial initiatives as they come up, working directly and closely with the Malaysia lead.

What matters most is that you are genuinely passionate about social media and content; this cannot be a "learn on the job" area. You should already have a strong sense of what good content looks like and be excited to build this from the ground up for Malaysia.

What You Will Do

Social Media & Content (Core Focus)

• Own and run Carousell Mobile Malaysia's social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other relevant platforms

• Plan and execute a content calendar aligned to business priorities (promotions, launches, seasonal moments)

• Create and/or direct short-form video, photo, and copy content that reflects the brand and drives engagement

• Build and own the social media strategy for Malaysia, bringing our presence up to the same standard as Carousell Group's Singapore and Indonesia teams

• Stay on top of platform trends and adapt content format quickly (Reels, TikTok trends, emerging formats)

• Track content and channel performance (engagement, reach, follower growth, content-driven leads) and use the data to keep improving

Business Growth & Partnerships (Supporting Focus)

• Work directly and closely with the Malaysia lead on business growth initiatives as they come up

• Help support partnership conversations and pitches (telcos, malls, retailers, e-commerce platforms), with content and brand input where relevant, plus general support

What You Will Need

Non-negotiable (Social Media & Content):

• Genuinely passionate about social media and content; this is not something we can teach from scratch, you need to already live and breathe it

• Proven experience creating content and/or running social media channels, with real examples of work you're proud of (personal, freelance, or professional)

• A strong sense of what good content and social strategy looks like, able to work independently with minimal guidance in this area

• Comfortable with basic content tools (CapCut, Canva, or similar) and shooting/editing short-form video

Good to have (will develop on the job):

• Interest in business growth, partnerships, or commercial work; no experience required, just curiosity

• Comfortable with ambiguity and picking up new tools or skills as needed

• Basic comfort with Google Sheets

• Strong written communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English

• Willing to work closely with the Malaysia lead, take feedback well, and take ownership over time
