You will join an elite team of 60 hands-on builders serving 1 billion students worldwide. If we execute, you will have built something generational that will transform how students learn globally.

YOUR MISSIONThe problem you will solve:
Knowunity is Europe's biggest AI learning companion with 25 million users. We're currently expanding Knowunity in Asia, and Japan is the key market for us in the region. You will be spearheading the growth of this critical country, together with our local social growth team in Japan and our CEO and growth team in Berlin.
After establishing strong success in Europe, Knowunity has already reached over 1 million users in the Philippines. With this momentum, Japan represents the next major step in our growth across Asia.
This is a freelance remote position based in Japan. We are looking for people currently living in Japan who have gone through schooling in Japan, so that they deeply understand how the education system and student culture work locally. You will work remotely with our international teams across time zones.
Your ownership:
You will own and drive our Japanese growth, through localisation, experimentation, and bold ideas on the growth and product side
You will come up with new tests and will make sure that Knowunity is top of mind for students in Japan
You will work closely with data analytics to address patterns or opportunities
You will execute marketing strategies or campaigns to boost DAUs and retention
You will run our creator programs and figure out new Growth tests & trends
Why this matters: Succeeding in Japan accelerates our timeline to serve 1 billion students. We deeply believe in the large opportunity of enabling personalised education for every student in Asia, Japan is a highly critical market here. Your work directly impacts our North Stars: growing ARR and DAUs while we race to establish market dominance in Japan.
What success looks like: Within 3-6 months, you will have delivered measurable outcomes and Knowunity will be a key player in the ed-tech and AI-space for students in Japan.

You have already proven you can deliver impact in high-pressure environments - whether through previous internships at top consulting firms, running growth or own channels, founding your own venture or leading significant university projects.
Must-haves
Top-tier university (business, economics, or quantitative field)
Previous experience in consulting, high-growth startup, or similar university projects
Analytical mindset with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Native Japanese; Business English
Nice-to-haves
Prior Social Media experience, i.e. running own accounts with relevant views
