About Tunic Pay🎽
At Tunic Pay, we’re building the future of safe payments. Fraud costs UK consumers and businesses billions each year — and the payment experience is broken. We’re here to fix that, starting with trust during the transaction.
Our product helps people know who they’re really paying, right at the point of payment — so that confidence, not fear, defines online payments. We started the business in November 2023 when we closed our Seed Round, and are already working with some of the biggest banks in the UK to make this a reality. 🧤
We believe in strong in-person collaboration so are requiring 3+ days a week jamming together in our London office (Farringdon).

About you 🤓
Here are some thoughts on who would be successful at the role. We know we won’t be able to assess these from your resume, but our interview process will be designed around them:
- A Raconteur/se: You love to tell stories and can structure compelling arguments across email, slides, marketing, and customer meetings to lure more people to the business.
- An Auto-didact: You may spend one day studying chargeback infrastructure and another exploring the best payroll solution for our business. You ingest new information fast and independently, and are able to synthesize it and make recommendations. You love using ChatGPT.
- A Powerhouse: When there’s a will there’s a way. You are tenacious and creative.
- A Radical Owner: Whether it’s fixing the printer or writing an investor update, you see these tasks as equally important and assume full ownership — and you orient towards “what is going to help this business & people move faster”.
The hard skills we’ll value
As we look at profiles, here’s what we’ll be scanning for:
- Broad business training: you’ve worked in strategy roles or BizOps at a consulting or tech or finance firm. You’ve had at least 2 years of experience and are super competent in excel, slides, client relationships and stakeholder management.
- Writing skills: you have done communications-heavy work before and write precisely and compellingly.
- Entrepreneurial energy: You have worked at smaller companies or standalone initiatives. You’ve done so without resources and structure.
- Technical exposure: not required, but experience working with a technical product and a baseline understanding of how software products are built and operated is preferred.
Not got 100% of qualifications? Research shows that women and under-represented minorities are less likely to apply for a role if they do not have 100% of the requirements. We’re paying attention to this, so please feel free to apply regardless (<2mins) or send us a note on [email protected] if you’d like to discuss if there’s a fit.
Stuff you’d do
- Sales: Reaching out to prospects, preparing meeting strategies & materials, pitching customers, note taking, following up, developing proposals all the way down to onboarding and implementation nuances.
- Customer Success: We only win if our customers do.
- Research: Preparing briefings to assist the business in making decisions.
- Anything 🤷🏻♀️ : Really. This role is ultimately about flexibility, and the scope will likely look very different in even 3 months.
🍃 Our values
Yes, and.
This business needs creativity – we value well-channelled positivity (and the discomfort of ideation!) above intellectual scepticism.
Change, and speed, is the only constant.
We prize flexibility and velocity. We don’t overpromise on a single strategy or career path. Nor do we value effort (sorry!). Instead, we are focused on outcomes + efficiency⚡
Straight-shooters.
We tell it like it is. To our customers, our investors, ourselves. There is no room for ethical shortcuts, and we’re taking the decades-long view.
Pranksters, not fraudsters.
We’re serious about our work, but not about ourselves. We delight in bringing a little troll spirit.
Last but not least, the interview process ⏳
We are seeking to make our interview as experiential as possible in order for both sides to get the most signal on what it would be like to work together. And our Tunic Pay-set SLA is to respond to you within 3 business days of every stage. So, the steps are:
- Initial application (<2 mins): Submit your LinkedIn/ CV and a writing sample in the application link below (we don’t believe in cover letters or unnecessary work here!)
- Mutual screening call (25mins): A call/ coffee with Maya (the hiring manager for this role). This is as much for you as it is for us!
- Take-home presentation (45mins): You take on a piece of work and present & discuss your findings with both Maya and one of the founders. Just as you would at Tunic.
- In-person chat: Come to our Farringdon office to meet the team
- References and offer: Ideally over dinner!
Compensation will vary based on experience, and we are targeting a range of £40-60K + options (we will be using a standard methodology of determining total equity packages as 80% of one year’s salary)
