Optiver's Group Treasury team is responsible for managing the firm's cash, liquidity, funding, capital and FX exposure globally. The function is undergoing an exciting phase of transformation, with the implementation of Kyriba as our global treasury management system, alongside a broader focus on leveraging AI and automation to enhance efficiency, strengthen data capabilities and optimise treasury processes.
As a Group Treasury Specialist, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of the function, combining hands-on treasury operations with opportunities to drive meaningful change. You'll contribute directly to the implementation of Kyriba, from system configuration and testing through to data validation and process integration. By taking ownership of day-to-day treasury processes, you'll develop a thorough understanding of how they work, using that knowledge to challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities for automation and build more efficient, scalable solutions. It's an opportunity to make an immediate impact, working alongside an experienced team to transform how the function operates.
What you'll do
The balance between running and building will shift over time, but you should expect to work across most of the following:
- Cash and liquidity management: Monitor global cash positions and liquidity requirements, support short- and long-term cash forecasting, and help optimize the deployment of excess liquidity.
- Treasury system: Help finish the Kyriba implementation and then become one of the people who makes it useful and insightful.
- Data, automation and AI: Find the manual processes worth removing and remove them. We are serious about getting agents and AI tooling into how the function actually works, having access to a suit of data analytics & AI tools at your disposal.
- Investments and FX: Support the management of our short-term investment portfolio across money market funds, government securities and deposits. Monitor and support the execution of our FX hedging program, including non-deliverable forwards for restricted currencies, and analyze associated hedging costs.
- Capital and liquidity analysis: Develop models to assess the firm's liquidity requirements, trading capital consumption and the financial impact of stress scenarios, working closely with stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
- Controls and counterparty monitoring: Maintain treasury controls, monitor counterparty and clearing exposures, and support periodic reporting to ensure effective risk oversight.
- Projects: Contribute to strategic treasury initiatives, including evaluating funding alternatives, establishing new entities, managing bank relationships, and further developing the global treasury operating model.
Within a year or so, the expectation is that you'll become the firm's go-to expert in at least one of these areas. We'll support you in developing the necessary domain knowledge, with the opportunity to take ownership and drive meaningful improvements.
Who you are
- Data-driven mindset: You have strong analytical skills and enjoy working with data to identify trends, solve problems and generate meaningful insights.
- You bring evidence of building things: Something you wrote that took work out of a process, replaced a spreadsheet or answered a question that could not be answered before. The scale does not matter much; we care that you finish things.
- Practical experience with AI tooling: More than using a chatbot occasionally. Ideally, you have experimented with building solutions using large language models (LLMs) and understand their capabilities and limitations.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL: Meaning you can build a data pipeline without help and put it somewhere other people can rely on. Git, scheduling and structured outputs should not be new to you.
- Enough finance knowledge to engage with the substance: You should be able to read a balance sheet and understand why liquidity and capital constrain a trading business. We can fill in treasury details.
- A real interest in financial markets: You should be following rates, funding and credit markets because you find them interesting, and be able to tell us what you make of what is going on.
- Foundational knowledge of fixed income, credit and FX: You have some familiarity with fixed income products, credit markets and FX instruments, with an interest in developing your knowledge further.
- Confidence to challenge existing approaches: You are naturally curious, comfortable asking questions and willing to challenge established ways of working when you see opportunities for improvement.
- Care with numbers, under time pressure: Hedge execution windows, funding decisions and morning briefings do not wait. We expect you to check your numbers, say when something is interpolated or indicative rather than quoted.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills: You communicate clearly in English, can explain your findings to different audiences and enjoy working with colleagues across Finance, Risk, Technology and the trading business globally.
