We are looking for a Group Sustainability Manager to join our dynamic team…
We’re looking for a Group Sustainability Manager to lead and coordinate our sustainability strategy and related reporting. This role sits at the heart of our efforts to achieve net zero, reduce waste, manage environmental risk, and ensure our business aligns with evolving international standards and legislative requirements.
You’ll work cross-functionally across Finance, Legal, Marketing and Risk to improve our ESG performance and reporting. You’ll help shape long-term strategic decisions, support delivery of regulatory compliance (e.g. climate-related disclosures), and develop tools, systems, and policies to embed sustainability in day-to-day operations.
You’ll become our key point of contact for clients, Nousers and relevant regulatory bodies for all Sustainability and ESG-related enquiries and requirements. You’ll also engage directly with Nous Group executive, office and building managers to implement practical initiatives around energy efficiency and waste management.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of opportunity to shape and grow our firm’s impact as our sustainability approach matures.
You will:
- Evolve and maintain our Group Sustainability maturity framework, ensuring it reflects market standards, stakeholder expectations and best practice.
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives aligned with our strategy and targets, including decarbonisation, business travel reduction, waste reduction, and renewable energy transitions.
- Lead and coordinate carbon accounting processes, including data gathering, emissions calculations, offset management and annual reporting.
- Monitor and respond to environmental risk, providing advice and analysis to mitigate potential impacts and ensure compliance with emerging regulations (e.g. Australian climate disclosure laws, SBTi, GHG Protocol).
- Support preparation of internal and external ESG reports, including disclosures, annual sustainability and modern slavery reports, and client and panel reporting requirements.
- Maintain a library of ready-made content for use in proposals and other communications materials around our sustainability strategy and performance.
- Respond (or coordinate response where more relevant) to ad-hoc requests from clients and colleagues relating to ESG.
- Model and analyse the environmental implications of business decisions, including scenario planning and sustainability impact modelling.
- Engage and collaborate with property and office managers to improve energy efficiency and waste management practices across our locations.
- Support capability building across the firm, delivering campaigns, tools and guidance to build sustainability literacy and action.
- Assess and benchmark Nous against relevant global ESG frameworks, identifying improvement opportunities and guiding implementation.
- Enhance our modern slavery approach, working with Legal, Finance and Risk teams on risk assessment, process improvements, and reporting.
Experience and capabilities required:
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, practical, and passionate – and who can work well across disciplines and geographies.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sustainability or ESG-focused role, ideally in a professional services or corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience in carbon accounting and offset strategy development.
- Strong understanding of relevant international standards, frameworks, and reporting protocols (e.g. SBTi, TCFD, GHG Protocol, SDGs, ISSB).
- Experience preparing or contributing to sustainability and ESG reports, including materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, peer benchmarking, and disclosures.
- Strong analytical and data skills, particularly in Excel (e.g. modelling emissions reduction scenarios or calculating carbon baselines).
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational plans, policies and tools.
- Excellent written communication skills, including experience writing reports for internal and external audiences.
- Confidence working independently, internationally and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience in environmental risk management and scenario analysis.
- Knowledge of emerging regulatory requirements in Australia and internationally around ESG and climate disclosure.
- Experience coordinating or managing waste and energy efficiency initiatives at a building or office level.
- Familiarity with modern slavery risk assessment and reporting frameworks.
