Group Respite SLA

The Supported Living Assistant provides support and service to clients who have intellectual disabilities living in their natural home environment. This part-time position consists of working 1:1 with an individual in their own home and community. Qualified persons will have own reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a high school diploma. 

Hours: Two Saturdays per month: 9:00am-2:30pm

Pay: $21.35/hr

Responsibilities: Assisting clients who have intellectual disabilities

General Duties:  The In Home Respite SLA reports to the Respite Coordinator. The In Home Respite SLA provides direct support and services to clients in the Respite Services Program and acts to ensure the well being of these clients.

Essential Functions:     

1. Act as a member of the Community Support Team (CST) to ensure that direct supports

and services are provided in accordance with the client’s individual support plan. Participate in client meetings as directed.

2. Provide supervision and training in the activities of daily living, including, but not limited

to; community outings, personal hygiene, money management skills, consumer skills development, mobility skills, housekeeping skills, personal health skills, cooking skills, laundry skills, and social skills.

3. Implement and record client progress on individualized program goals, daily checklists,

behavioral objectives, and any other related data sheets.

4. Consult with Respite Coordinator in regard to client needs, long term goals and

individual objectives.

5. Maintain contact with the Respite Coordinator on a monthly basis.

6. Exhibit initiative and flexibility in handling unexpected situations, problems, temporary

tasks, and emergency situations.  Utilize emergency contact form when necessary

per guidelines.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
