Job Overview
The Group Finance Systems Accountant will support the delivery, operation and ongoing improvement of the Group finance systems, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and related tooling. They will work closely with the Group Finance Systems Manager, finance teams, IT and external partners. The role ensures finance systems are stable, well controlled and fit for purpose.
This role focuses on day-to-day system support, process optimisation, reporting, automation and project delivery activities – namely the migration to Business Central from local legacy accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Support - Provide first-line support for finance systems, acting as an initial point of contact for users. Triage issues, resolve break/fix problems and user errors and escalate appropriately to the Group Finance Systems Manager or external partners.
- Projects - Support the delivery of finance systems projects. Assist with requirements gathering, testing, documentation and implementation activities. Maintain and contribute to the backlog of system enhancements and improvements.
- Automation and Integrations - Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of automated finance processes and system integrations. Identify opportunities to reduce manual processing and improve efficiency.
- Upgrade, Release and Change Management - Support structured upgrade, release and change processes for finance systems. Assist with testing, validation, documentation and communication of system changes to users.
- System Integrity - Support the maintenance of data integrity across finance systems, with particular focus on integrated tools and automated processes. Perform reconciliations and checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of data feeding financial reporting, highlighting risks and issues promptly.
- Maintenance - Maintain existing and newly implemented processes on a business-as-usual basis. Monitor scheduled and automated processes, dashboards and alerts to ensure continued effectiveness. Maintain master data, workflows and system configurations in line with agreed policies.
- Reporting - Support the maintenance, enhancement and development of finance systems reporting. Assist in producing, validating and improving management reports, dashboards and KPI outputs to meet business needs.
- User Management - Support joiner, leaver and change processes for finance. Assist in maintaining role profiles and permission sets to ensure appropriate access, segregation of duties and control compliance.
- Partners and Stakeholders - Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support finance systems operations and project delivery.
- Documentation and Manuals - Create, maintain and update system documentation, including process flows and user manuals to support consistent and effective use of finance systems.
Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
- Experience operating within a changing or evolving systems environment.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and analytical approach.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Good understanding of finance processes and controls, with an interest in continuous improvement.
