Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Special Education, or related field;
- Or a high school equivalency with a minimum of three years experience in Early Intervention or similar program plus 30 hours of in-service training, workshops, or college courses in a related field.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds and maintain a current drivers’ license.
- CPR certification required.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries; promote client confidentiality; and exhibit flexibility, sensitivity to cultural differences, and teamwork.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve, make recommendations, and implement solutions
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in the safe transition of children on and off the bus and be familiar with the transportation routine (remove and put car seats and children on/off buses, signing paperwork, etc.)
- Greet and interact with children and families before and after groups. (Help orient new families to group routine, touch base with parents after group about their child).
- Support and participate with implementation of group activities (preparing snack, washing child’s hands, supporting upset child).
- Promote ongoing communication about children in group with other team members (parents/caregivers, group leader, service coordinator, other EI providers).
- Communicate and assist group leaders and staff to prepare and implement activities for groups (sensory, art, manipulatives, motor equipment).
- Work with group coordinator to maintain inventory of supplies (food, cleaning, art, group equipment).
- Be informed of children’s IFSP goals and work with service coordinator and group staff to implement strategies to address them in the group setting.
- Maintain cleanliness of group space and materials (wash dishes, sanitation of toys, clean sinks, vacuum, etc.).
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic group environment.
- Help group coordinator prepare and update group bulletin boards.

What We Do
Thom Child and Family Services works with over 10,000 infants, toddlers, and their families throughout Massachusetts – providing critical Early Intervention and related services. Our dedicated occupational and physical therapists, social workers, nurses, speech-language pathologists, developmental specialists, counselors and other specialists are committed to working collaboratively with families, early education and care providers, pediatricians, and other professionals to facilitate each individual child’s development. Thom's ten Early Intervention programs offer home and community-based visits, seeing children and families in their natural environments. Thom programs also offer a variety of groups for young children as well as parent and parent/child groups.
