Position Description

The Greenhouse Supervisor supports and assists the Production Manager in the daily operations involved with running a greenhouse. This supervisor leads a designated team that executes the daily tasks with quality and efficiency in a timely manner. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and assigns work schedules and duties to staff of up to 60 Farm Associates in assigned area(s), and supervises their work, while promoting a safe work environment. 
  • In collaboration with the Production Manager, sets the standards in efficiency, productivity, and quality for all cultivation activities in designated area(s). 
  • In collaboration with the Production Manager, monitors the final quality of the product; follows QA guidelines for crops in designated area(s). 
  • Prepares workforce (manning) requirement for all activities across all crops in designated area(s). 
  • Conducts performance evaluations for assigned Farm Associates on a regular basis according to the High-Performance Culture standards and provides feedback and coaching to designated group leaders.  
  • Coordinates personnel training with growers regarding cultivation activities and conducts training for designated greenhouse staff in conjunction with Food Safety and Health and Safety departments. 
  • Assists Production Manager by monitoring facilities, operational systems, and equipment in assigned area(s) for signs of disrepair.   
  • Enters necessary maintenance work tickets and follows-up on repairs.  
  • Participates with growers in the weekly production forecast. 
  • Keeps track of all production data (i.e., efficiency, yield, QA, etc.) for designated area(s).   
  • Analyzes and proposes/implements improvement plans in coordination with the production manager.  
  • Responsible for creation and closing of work orders in the ERP system including entry of harvest data for assigned area(s). 

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • The ability and willingness to work as an integral team member and as a project leader. 
  • Conversational Spanish speaking skills. 
  • Excel proficiency and computer production software experience. 
  • A commitment to continuous improvement. 
  • A willingness to work the extra hours / Saturdays required.  
  • A willingness to assist with other tasks as needed. 

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • 1 – 2 years of leadership experience in a greenhouse preferred but other types of leadership experience will be considered. 

Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma, required.  
  • A degree in Business, Greenhouse Horticulture, or Agronomy is desired, but not required.

Compensation

  • $21.03 - $37.86/hr
