Job Description

The Skills Network are in search of a Graphic Designer to work within our busy Product Development team. This is a permanent position with an immediate start available.
This role will support the continued growth of the company by assisting in the development and production of learning resources (both paper and online) and support materials for the business.
The Role:
• Design and format all paper-based learning resources, assessments and support materials – to include typesetting, cover designs and sourcing photography / graphics
• Design and format all online learning materials, working on our online learning platform
• Support the Videography, Publishing and Marketing Teams when necessary
• Be responsible for the correct sourcing of all imagery and be aware of copyright laws and legislation / the use of particular images and secondary sources
• Create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software to communicate ideas that will inspire, inform and captivate learners and other customers
• Liaise with managers and team leaders to discuss business requirements on a regular basis
• Develop design briefs by gathering information and data to clarify design issues
• Think creatively and innovatively to produce new ideas across the Company
• Use innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the constraints of cost, time and client
• Multi-tasking: graphic designers often work on more than one design brief at a time
• Use a wide range of media, including photography and computer aided design
• Produce accurate and high quality work
• Contribute ideas and design artwork to the overall brief; participate in Team ‘Huddles’ and ‘Mini-Team’ Meetings
• Keep abreast of developments in IT, particularly design programs.
• Work well in a team, with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, website designers and marketing specialists
• Be able to give and receive positive and negative critique
• Work to tight deadlines.

Essential Experience:
• Excellent InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator knowledge and skills
• At least one year industry experience
• Excellent drawing or computer-aided imaging skills
• Excellent IT skills and the desire to keep up to date with new developments in design software
• Must be able to interpret a brief, to liaise with the client and with other professionals involved in the project, and then to produce a design which fulfils their (sometimes unstated) needs
• Good interpersonal and presentational skills.
Desirable Experience:
• Have business awareness in order to understand the cost and time constrains
• Highly perceptive about what is going on elsewhere in graphic design.
