Graduate Back End Java Developer

Youtap Limited is seeking a talented Graduate Back End Java Developer to join their team. As a member of the Youtap team, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and provide white-label digital banking and digital wallet solutions to financial institutions and corporates worldwide. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the company's digital banking, payments, and loyalty applications — using AI tools to move fast and ship features that matter.

At Youtap, we expect our developers to leverage AI at every stage — from scaffolding features and writing tests to debugging and code review — so you can focus on solving real problems and delivering value fast. You will work closely with product managers, front-end developers and architects to bring compelling experiences to life for consumers and merchants across the fintech and loyalty space.

You must have the right to work in New Zealand to apply. Please note that this is an in office role, based out of our Auckland CBD office.

• Develop and maintain the back-end of the company's digital banking, digital payments, and digital wallet applications using Java Spring Framework.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Cursor) as a core part of your workflow — rapidly prototyping, generating boilerplate, writing tests, and iterating on features at speed.
• Develop and deploy on cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure,Google)
• Develop, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and Youtap cloud banking microservices.
• Develop and maintain data storage solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Work closely with the front-end development team to ensure seamless Youtap and third-party Apps integration.
• Ensure optimal application performance and scalability.
• Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews and work with the team to identify and resolve issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) as an everyday superpower — show us what you’ve shipped and how fast you shipped it!
• Manage source control using Bitbucket or GIT
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, including containerization (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as Flutter and React is a plus.
