Role Summary
This role is responsible for evaluating and prioritizing public policy and regulatory issues to lead the development of Vanguard's position and priorities, communicating positions internally and externally, and protecting and advancing Vanguard’s interests with policymakers and regulators. The role also monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory developments, advises business leaders on their implications, and drives government relations initiatives through coordination with external stakeholders to support organizational advocacy objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Reviews research and analysis conducted by more junior team members. Develops an approach for incorporating findings into Vanguard's public policy agenda.
2. Leads the development of Vanguard's official position on public policy matters as well as Vanguard's regulatory agenda, policy roadmap, and advocacy strategy. Implements strategies to advance Vanguard's objectives.
3. Leads Vanguard's strategic engagement with policy makers, legislative and regulatory bodies, and trade associations. Maintains an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders. Ensures that Vanguard's views are canvassed and Advocates for Vanguard interests and the interests of its shareholders.
4. Oversees policy submissions and the preparation of meeting materials for submission to government and regulatory entities.
5. Stays abreast of regulatory and policy developments. Oversees and coordinates the effective and timely communication with the business and other stakeholders. Consults with business leaders on the potential impact.
6. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on government policy and legislative developments, including identifying emerging regulatory trends and preparing position papers and briefing materials for business leadership.
7. Educates business leaders and key stakeholders on the potential implications and consequences of legislative and regulatory changes to support informed decision-making.
8. Develops and implements government relations initiatives, including coordinating with trade associations, industry groups, and relevant external stakeholders to support organizational advocacy objectives.
9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Skills
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in government relations, public policy, regulatory affairs, or corporate affairs.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized Indian university is essential and Master’s degree in Law (LLM), Business Law, or Corporate Law is also preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with government bodies, regulators and industry associations.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and policy development.
- Proven ability to analyze complex policy issues and translate them into actionable business insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience in financial services, asset management, or regulated industries preferred.

This role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana at Vanguard’s India office. Only qualified external applicants will be considered.
