Boeing Japan has an opportunity for a Government Relations Specialist to join the Boeing Global (BG) team. Based in Tokyo, Japan the role will support Boeing Japan President and Executive Director, Government & Corporate Affairs to establish and implement the company's strategic vision to achieve growth.
The Boeing Global organization is responsible for leading the development and execution of enterprise-wide global, regional and country strategies, in close coordination with the business and functional leaders. It also take the lead on international government relations, providing direction and management of the company's interface activity with foreign governments and officials, industry leaders, media, policy and academic institutions in all areas of aerospace industry and related activities. It provides guidance and coordination of enterprise-wide countries and regional strategies and policies to promote Boeing's Global business activities.
Position Responsibilities:
The Government Relations Specialist will report to the Executive Director, Government & Corporate Affairs to coordinate and collaborate with the business units, functions, national & local government and other company entities (suppliers, subsidiaries, joint ventures, etc.) to achieve their strategic goals and business objectives. In particular, the role will include the following duties as specifically directed by the Executive Director, Government & Corporate Affairs.
- Regularly interfaces with Boeing business units to enable integrated approach to business, knowledge of key business, campaigns and partnership activities
- Develop and strengthen relationships with all related stakeholders
- Identifies business development opportunities for Boeing in potential regional growth markets
- Acts as focal on country and regional strategic initiatives
- Acts as the in-house market expert and ensures team is kept up to date with significant market intelligence and geopolitical issues
- Support (or leads, as appropriate) the implementation of enterprise and business initiatives
- Supports all government relations activities
- Assist with integration and execution of the activities of Boeing's Japan office, including: assisting the Boeing Japan President in establishing and coordinating the office's activities and priorities; supporting effective coordination with Boeing Global and other Boeing offices; developing and managing common office written work - products and materials
- Support development and implementation of Boeing's strategies for Japan and, as appropriate, market development initiatives
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- At least 10-15 years of experience in a similar role in a regulated industry or a governmental entity
- Native level of written and spoken Japanese
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willing to travel as required expected to exceed not more than 20% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in budget formulation and execution for the National Diet or local government bodies.
- Evidence of successful interactions with diet members and/or governmental entities
- Prior experience at a Fortune 500 company (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated business acumen and ability to identify business opportunities
- Demonstrable ability to conduct research, analyze materials and prepare concise report on findings
- Demonstrable ability to successfully navigate a complex and matrixed organization structure
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Typical Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree
