The Travel Risk Management (TRM) program sits within Global Security and delivers the firm's Duty of Care to business travelers. Supported by the Global Security Operations Centers (GSOCs) in New York, London and Singapore, the program manages the risk associated with approximately 320,000 air tickets and 600,000 hotel room nights booked annually across the JPMorganChase footprint, through a robust destination risk model, tiered approval framework, vendor governance, awareness and training, and 24/7 emergency response coordination.. 

As a Vice President, Travel Risk Management Lead in Travel Risk Management, you will own the design, delivery, governance, and continuous evolution of our global travel risk program. The role holds end-to-end ownership of the standard and its associated procedures, program controls, governance and oversight, ensuring the firm's Duty of Care obligations are met for every traveler on every trip.

You will set global direction across the program's six operating pillars - country/city risk ratings, ongoing risk review, travel approval processes, travel asset maintenance (approved hotels and prohibited airlines), training and awareness, and monitoring and contingencies - while partnering with Global Travel Services, Global Intelligence, Corporate Aviation, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance and Line of Business stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the Head of GSOCs and Crisis Management, you will coordinate a globally distributed team of Travel Security Officers (TSOs), and will represent the firm to travel providers, insurance and emergency response vendors, and peer institutions. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Own the Global Travel Risk Management Standard - including its annual review, exception management, and the design and execution of the control framework required to deliver against it.
  • Set and maintain destination risk levels (Low / Medium / High / No Travel), ensuring ratings are current, defensible and consistently applied across regions.
  • Design, operate and continuously improve the tiered travel risk mitigation & approval framework, ensuring approval gates are proportional to trip risk and operating in line with the standard.
  • Direct global monitoring, traveler tracking and event notification capabilities, including coordination of response to incidents impacting travelers in-country.
  • Own vendor engagement across the travel ecosystem, including third-party outsourcing risk management, service performance and commercial governance.
  • Manage the approved hotels program and prohibited airlines manifest in partnership with Global Travel Services and Corporate Aviation.
  • Represent Travel Risk Management at appropriate governance forums, presenting risk level changes, exception activity, vendor compliance metrics and program KPIs.
  • Lead the emergency response coordination model, ensuring seamless engagement with the United Healthcare Global Assistance program, retained emergency response vendors.
  • Own the travel awareness/training curriculum, including employee resources, travel checklists, travel brochures, LGBTQ+ travel guidance and the travel safety training course.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • 8+ years experience in travel risk management, corporate security operations, crisis management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of destination risk methodologies, including government sources, and the ability to translate them into a defensible, tiered risk model.
  • Proven experience leading globally distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Strong commercial and vendor management skills, including negotiation, service performance oversight and third-party risk management across travel providers, insurance and emergency response vendors.
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to brief the Chief Security Officer, senior LOB executives and control partners on travel risk, incidents and program decisions.
  • Familiarity with a large, regulated financial services environment, including risk and controls frameworks, third-party outsourcing requirements, and data privacy considerations.
