Job Description

Global Research Analyst – Infrastructure (Clean Energy)

Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co.

At Duff & Phelps Investment Management (D&P), collaboration is not a value statement, it is how the investment platform operates every day. As a boutique, investment‑led manager specializing in listed real assets, including global infrastructure and clean energy strategies, D&P is built on close partnership across research, portfolio management, and portfolio solutions teams, with a shared focus on disciplined analysis, risk management, and long‑term value creation for institutional and intermediary clients.

The Global Research Analyst – Infrastructure (Clean Energy) plays an essential role in this collaborative investment model. This position is designed for an equity research professional who wants to be fully embedded in the investment process, working side‑by‑side with the clean energy lead portfolio manager to support active security selection and portfolio positioning within Clean Energy. Rather than operating as a standalone research function, the role is tightly integrated into how portfolios are managed, risks are evaluated, and long‑term investment themes are translated into actionable decisions.

Our preferred candidate will work out of our Chicago office and will not require relocation. Designed for professionals with 4-7 years of relevant buy-side investment experience, this role offers meaningful exposure, increasing responsibility, and visibility within the clean energy and infrastructure investment platform. The Global Research Analyst will assume primary responsibility for a dedicated coverage universe, conducting in‑depth fundamental research on companies across clean energy. This includes financial modeling, valuation analysis, assessment of regulatory and competitive dynamics, and evaluation of long‑term structural trends shaping the global energy transition. Analytical rigor and sound judgment are essential; collaboration, accountability, and intellectual curiosity are what distinguish success in the role.

A Culture Built on Teamwork and Proximity

The Global Research Analyst operates within D&P’s highly collaborative investment culture, where proximity to colleagues and active participation in investment discussions matter. This is not a siloed function; it is an integrated component of portfolio construction, relative value assessment, and ongoing risk oversight. Analysts are expected to engage directly with portfolio managers and fellow researchers, contributing insights that reflect how portfolios are actively managed and how risks and return drivers are evaluated in real time.

You will collaborate closely with the clean energy lead portfolio manager to produce company research, earnings assessments, and valuation work that support documented buy, hold, and sell decisions. This partnership‑driven approach mirrors D&P’s broader operating model, where roles are defined less by hierarchy and more by shared responsibility for portfolio integrity and long‑term outcomes.

Partnership Across the Investment Organization

In addition to core research responsibilities, the Global Research Analyst supports portfolio‑level discussions through active communication of investment views, risk considerations, and evolving sector themes. The role involves regular engagement with company management teams, industry participants, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that research perspectives remain current, informed, and grounded in fundamental insight.

Working collaboratively across research and portfolio management, the Global Research Analyst helps ensure that Clean Energy investments remain aligned with strategy objectives, valuation discipline, and risk tolerances. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a rigorous, research‑driven environment. The Analyst will also contribute to client‑ and stakeholder‑facing materials, including marketing and board content, supporting clear and consistent communication of investment strategy and positioning.  Our goal is not just supporting strong portfolio performance but also driving AUM growth for the Clean Energy strategy.

Who Thrives at D&P

This role is well suited for an investment professional who values teamwork, intellectual curiosity, and proximity to the investment process. Successful Global Research Analysts are those who take pride in rigorous fundamental research, enjoy collaborating with experienced investors, and are motivated by contributing meaningfully to portfolio decisions. Individuals who thrive at D&P are thoughtful, disciplined, and eager to deepen their expertise within a boutique platform where individual contributions are visible and valued.

Why D&P

Professionals join Duff & Phelps Investment Management because they want the depth and credibility of a true real assets investment platform, combined with the collaboration and accessibility that comes with a boutique firm. Here, clean energy and infrastructure research directly informs portfolio outcomes, relationships are built on trust and substance, and success is driven by teams working together to deliver disciplined, long‑term investment results.

The starting salary range is $140,000 to $160,000/annually.

The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.

This position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) as a condition of employment. We are unable to sponsor work visas or provide support for OPT/CPT programs for this role.
