Job Summary (General Responsibilities):
Responsible for management of the assigned product line, including the specific product mix, product families, and ongoing evaluation of products to be added, enhanced, refined, developed or eliminated. Responsibilities include identifying the right products and ODM suppliers to support product roadmaps, manage all development and production related activities and actively seek solutions to meet launch timelines and cost targets. This position will be in either Shenzhen, Hong Kong, or Vietnam.
Develop support resources for sales, customers, manuals, and technical support. Ensure that the assigned product line/s is/are recognized as the best line by resellers and end users in the industry for value, quality, selection, innovation, features, reliability, and ease of use.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Build a portfolio of products that meet customer and/or market demand with detailed specification, quality and cost information.
- Develop sourcing initiatives and strategies around new product development and emerging technologies.
- Serve as the project owner during the development of customized solutions as well as throughout fulfillment of customer POs. Manage project schedule across development milestones. Communicate and coordinate project status and deliverables with customers. Communicate and negotiate trade-offs with key stakeholders/ internal customers to ensure the result of the development work meets expectation.
- Throughout the development process, constantly monitor and negotiate costs to make sure projects stay on track of committed cost. This may include material costs, transformation costs, tooling, certification and NRE. Continuously look for opportunities and implement cost-cutting / value-added measures to increase our margins.
- Manage and drive strategic sourcing process, including vendor prospecting, vendor audit and qualification, RFQ, negotiations on price and terms and conditions.
- Quickly react to special order requirements and provide fast solutions by working with vendors at minimum cost.
- Negotiate costs by partnering with the Purchasing Department to coordinate costing and with Sales Management to coordinate pricing.
- Prepare budgets and break-even analyses for all new development type projects.
- Work with industrial designers, engineers, toolmakers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure newly developed products are manufactured to the highest quality and deadlines are met.
- Define with customer regulatory compliance quality standards and testing necessary to bring products to market. Acts as escalation point for product issues that require resolution, quality assessment, or risk mitigation.
- Interacts with key suppliers and partners and manages vendor relationships key to product delivery. Negotiate contracts, with management approval, with consultants, service providers, manufacturers, and other vendors, as necessary.
- Coordinate production requirements with our Global Planning team to ensure on-time delivery.
- Write manuals, or work with technical writers to ensure that manuals are as effective as possible.
- Understand the global private label customers in which Belkin sells its products and services through; know where our products sell through and what our top accounts are for assigned product line as well as sell-through information.
- Provide Marketing Department with sufficient information to develop product packaging, documentation, bulletins, and training material, as necessary.
- Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001 and 14001; understand and fully support IS0 system.
- Fulfill responsibilities under OHSAS 18001, understand and fully support OHSAS 18001 system.
- Comply with Health and Safety requirements of Belkin.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and required.
Key requirements to be successful:
- Four-year college degree in Business Administration or Marketing preferred
- 3+ years similar or related work experience within consumer electronics or consumer goods industry.
- Experience in sourcing or supply chain management and bringing products to market
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Mandarin, Cantonese or Vietnamese language skills highly desirable
- Ability to travel frequently in Asia as required.
- Highly organized
Proficiency in MS Project is a plus
