The Global Principal Desktop Engineer is accountable for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting an organization's end user computing across the FDB. A key aspect of this Lead role involves training and mentoring other Global Desktop Engineers.
About the Role
A Global Principal Desktop Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting an organization's end user computing across the FDB. This role focuses on providing Level 3 support, which includes resolving the most complex technical issues that cannot be handled by Level 1 or Level 2 support. The Global Principal Desktop Engineer provides critical technical guidance and expertise, diagnosing and resolving high-level technical issues across a diverse range of technologies. This involves analyzing inquiries, determining the appropriate technical areas or vendors to resolve problems, consulting with managers and colleagues on action plans, and serving as the ultimate point of escalation within the business. Furthermore, the Global Principal Desktop Engineer
participates in project execution and quality assurance, administers support processes and procedures, and manages client build, software deployment, and patch management. They also ensure the asset management of client hardware and document all relevant processes and procedures.

The Global Desktop Engineering Team is a part of the IT Infrastructure and Operations Department. Job Responsibilities
Your primary tasks will be:
● Provides technical support to customers on standard operation of core systems
● Responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting an organization's end user computing across the FDB
● This role focuses on providing Level 3 support, which includes resolving the most complex technical issues
● provides critical technical guidance and expertise, diagnosing and resolving high-level technical issues across a diverse range of technologies
● analyzing inquiries, determining the appropriate technical areas or vendors to resolve problems, consulting with managers and colleagues on action plans
● A key aspect of this role involves training and mentoring other Global Desktop Engineers, sharing knowledge, and developing their skills
● participates in projects execution and quality assurance, administers support processes and procedures, and manages client build, software deployment, and patch management
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following background and skill sets:
Professional qualifications
● Minimum of 5 years expertise in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager: They should be able to set up, manage, and troubleshoot SCCM infrastructure. They need to have strong skills in SCCM administration, including managing client, system policies, and reporting.
● OS Deployment: The engineer should have extensive knowledge in deploying new operating systems using SCCM. They should understand task sequences, boot images, and driver packages.
● Patch Management: They should be proficient in managing and deploying patches using SCCM.
● Software Distribution: They need to have skills in packaging and deploying software through SCCM.
● Troubleshooting: They should have excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and fix problems related to SCCM.
● PowerShell Scripting: Scripting skills, especially with PowerShell, are often needed for automating tasks in SCCM.
● Networking Knowledge: A good understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP, is required.
● SQL Server: They should have an understanding of SQL Server as SCCM uses SQL Server as a backend.
● Communication Skills: They should have strong communication skills to explain complex technical issues to non-technical staff and collaborate effectively with other teams.
● Project Management: The engineer might need to manage SCCM projects, requiring skills in planning, coordinating, and executing projects.
● Documentation: They should be able to create clear and detailed technical documentation, guides, and standard operating procedures.
● Knowledge of Security Best Practices: They should be aware of IT security best practices and understand how to apply these in the context of SCCM. This can include securing SCCM infrastructure, understanding security compliance, deploying security updates, and mitigating security risks related to SCCM. Personal qualifications
