The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the Global Logistics Network Optimization Manager, you will play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency, resilience, and innovation of 3M’s global logistics network. You will lead and execute end-to-end optimization initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in cost, service, and operational performance worldwide. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure efficient, on-time execution and adoption of global network transformation initiatives. You will also be responsible for driving the project pipeline and prioritization process, ensuring that resources are focused on the most impactful opportunities. Ultimately, you will be accountable for delivering measurable impact, fostering excellence in execution, and monitoring and reporting the performance of strategic, tactical, and operational network transformation programs across the globe to sustain long-term value creation.

Your Skills and Expertise
- Define and execute the global logistics network transformation optimization strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business growth, service, and efficiency objectives.
- Develop strategic, tactical, and operational models to support data-driven decision-making and long-term logistics planning.
- Identify and drive optimization opportunities, including consolidation center design, flow path improvements, and modal or lanes shifts to enhance cost efficiency, service, and resilience.
- Lead global network optimization transformation projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring consistent methodology, governance, and measurable value delivery.
- Own project governance—managing timelines, deliverables, resources, and risk mitigation to ensure execution on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across logistics, finance, IT, operations, and external partners to ensure seamless execution and adoption of network recommendations.
- Track benefits realization (e.g., cost savings, service improvements, efficiency gains) and ensure transparent communication to leadership.
- Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Llamasoft, Optilogic, AnyLogistix, or similar) to optimize network design and enhance operational performance.
- Translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations, supporting trade-off decisions across cost, service, and risk dimensions.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (cost-to-serve, service level, working capital efficiency) to measure impact and guide continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and accountability within the network optimization team.
- Build organizational capabilities to embed analytics-driven decision-making and network optimization practices into day-to-day operations.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Supply Chain/Logistics, Operations Research, Business Administration (completed and verified prior to start)
- Eight (8) years of combined experience in Logistics, Distribution, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Business Operations across private, public, government, or military environments.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree preferred;
- Relevant certifications such as CSCP, CLTD, SC Pro, APICS, and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt are highly valued.
- Require minimum of 5 years of project and program management, with proven experience developing and implementing strategic and transformational initiatives worldwide.
- Strong project management expertise, including experience with PMO governance, portfolio management, and agile methodologies.
- Proven self-starter with the ability to operate independently and effectively in complex, fast-paced, and global environments.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including planning, logistics, manufacturing, sourcing, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated analytical-driven mindset, with the ability to convert complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive measurable business impact.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with strong executive communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a track record of driving alignment across functions, geographies, and senior leadership levels.
- Strategic and business-oriented mindset, able to connect analytics, operations, and financial drivers to enable data-informed decision-making.
- Resilient and adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and capable of creating clarity and direction for teams in dynamic environments.
- Prior experience in consulting, operational excellence, or large-scale transformation programs is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with supply chain systems (WMS, TMS, ERP) and data analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, DAX, Python) is an advantage.
Work location:
- On-site (at least 4 days per week)
