About This Role:
The Global Launch and Commercial Operations Lead is a senior individual contributor accountable for the end‑to‑end governance, readiness, and execution excellence of Biogen’s global commercial launch of zorevunersen — a potential first-in-class disease-modifying therapy for Dravet syndrome.
This role is accountable for leading cross-functional and cross-regional matrix teams to develop and execute robust launch plans, provide launch progress updates for leadership, build and enhance organizational capabilities for launch via new methods, tools; and maximize launch excellence know-how across teams to enhance and accelerate decision-making.
In addition, the role leads the design and implementation of critical cross-functional initiatives – spanning external engagement (HCPs, patients, caregivers) and advanced insight generation, in collaboration with cross-functional partners – to strengthen launch impact and inform strategic decision-making.
What You'll Do:
- Orchestrate end-to-end launch execution, at global and local levels and embed customer & market intelligence into launch decisions
- Lead cross-functional alignment across functions – e.g., Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Insights, PAG, PO&T, GAM, Regulatory
- Orchestrate and lead continuous engagement with local teams to support and enable country team onboarding and engagement, implementation of launch readiness activities, including cascading down global materials
- Drive strategic and operational rigor in building and managing integrated launch plans, with clear roles & responsibilities and workstreams interdependencies
- Own launch stage gates, readiness milestones, and governance forums
- Ensure all functions are aligned to critical path and launch timing
- Track performance post-launch and adapt strategy in real time
- Identify risks across strategy, execution and market dynamics and drive mitigation and clear escalation to leadership
- Define success KPIs, including: uptake curves / adoption, market share evolution, customer engagement metrics, ROI of launch investments
- Ensure launch strategy reflects real-world treatment dynamics, access barriers and payer expectations, competitive positioning
- Take the lead in select insight generation or data analytics task, as needed, in collaboration with global and / or local teams
- Foster a positive team culture through expert meeting facilitation, team health checks, collaborative and values-based decision-making, clear ways of working and team engagement
- Lead design and execution of key external engagement initiatives to HCPs, patients, caregivers
- Define and drive the global engagement strategy across HCPs, patients, and caregivers, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and launch objectives
- Lead the development of omnichannel cross functional customer engagement plans and oversee execution of unbranded disease education and awareness campaigns, in partnership with Medical and PAG, among others
- Co create content with key markets and deliver content ready for deployment world wide pull trough in countries
- Ensure all external-facing initiatives are insight-driven, compliant, and tailored to regional/local needs, while maintaining global consistency
- Partner with affiliates to adapt and activate engagement strategies locally, ensuring relevance and impact across key markets
- Lead integration of: market research, competitive intelligence, customer insights (HCP, patients, advocacy) to inform external engagement strategies and initiatives
Who You Are:
You are a highly collaborative leader who has deep understanding of the launch planning horizon from pivotal program endorsement to market introduction and the role of each function in launch planning and execution. You have proven success in leading cross-functional teams through world-class launches. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader who excels in strategy, execution and people management. She/he possesses a strategic and empowering mindset and strong communication skills to ensure effective seamless cross-functional alignment and execution as well as representation in global forums and across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in: Global marketing / brand leadership, Product launches (global or regional), Commercial strategy in pharma/biotech. He or she will bring experience in pre-launch + launch + early in-line phases, ideally exposure to rare diseases. Also, has exceptional planning and organizational abilities to manage competing priorities and experience with implementing and leveraging project management tools and principles.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with at least 3 years in strategic or tactical roles supporting launch readiness
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, Teams, and project management software
- Profound commercial experience, preferably in local affiliate environment, regional/global level experience is a plus
- Strong track record of delivering results while enhancing collaborative culture and high employee engagement
- Experienced in leading in a matrix organization
- Proficiency in English and another language
- Anticipated travel: up to 15% international
