The position
As the Global Health Equity Senior Manager, you will be, together with local affiliates, executing one of the company's health equity flagships, to establish and enable self-sustainable business-integrated health equity business models in affiliates (local operating business units) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The overall ambition of the flagship is to strengthen our efforts to reach vulnerable patients living with diabetes in LMICs through the embedding of health equity priorities in affiliate strategies, target-setting, and operations. There will be a large focus on stakeholder management via global coordination and collaboration with International Operations - Strategic Operations (IO-SO), Regional offices, and local affiliates to ensure successful implementation. You will be supporting the flagship Lead and the Head of Diabetes Health Equity in developing strategies, maintaining the support to launched affiliates, preparing and providing input to governance decision-making bodies, and driving annual impact evaluations for Executive Management.
Your main responsibilities

  • Contribute to driving the department's health equity agenda, specifically through the Diabetes Access and Affordability (A&A) Roadmap's affiliate health equity business models flagship
  • Lead the implementation support of affiliates with launched health equity business models, including providing execution guidance to affiliate colleagues in operationalising health equity activities according to guidelines. This guidance involves close collaboration with IO-SO and Regional colleagues.
  • Support in the establishment of new affiliate health equity business models, including supporting in launch preparation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure strong project management of the flagship and that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of health equity affiliates are established and reported on (quarterly).
  • Leverage insights, learnings, and best practices for increasing access to vulnerable patients across programmes and regions to foster scalability of initiatives.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of the flagship within the wider organisation through active and timely stakeholder management.
  • Support colleagues in the Global Health Equity team to drive a unified health equity narrative by contributing to strategy development and reporting of progress, in close collaborations with Global Health Equity colleagues.


Qualifications
To succeed in the role, we imagine that you have:

  • A relevant master's degree in Public Health, Political Science, International Development, Business, or a related field.
  • Frontline experience from working in Operations and affiliates, ideally in low- and middle-income countries, is preferred.
  • At least a couple of years of experience of working with strategic projects and programme implementation, preferably on a global scale.
  • Documented experience of various sectors, NGO and government exposure are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of global health disparities, social determinants of health, and healthcare access challenges is a plus.


As a candidate, you should bring excellent communication and collaboration abilities, along with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse stakeholders. Your capacity to inspire and guide teams towards impactful results through indirect leadership will be essential. Additionally, your demonstrated passion and commitment to promoting health equity and improving healthcare vulnerable patients will be a valuable asset.
You should exhibit a very high degree of independent decision-making and strategic thinking, as well as the ability to adeptly build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders from various parts of the organisation and from diverse countries and cultures, with this role requiring up to 25% travel.
About the Department
Based in Bagsværd, Global Public Affairs & Sustainability (GPAS) is a global team in four areas: Global Health Equity, Corporate Environmental Strategy, Global Public Affairs and Patient Relations, and ESG Strategy & Intelligence. The Global Health Equity team is responsible for Novo Nordisk's social responsibility strategy and the company's efforts to improve access and affordability for vulnerable patients with diabetes or other serious chronic diseases such as obesity. We run partnership programmes and work with patient organisations, NGOs, and other partners to address health equity challenges for people with serious chronic diseases in low-resource settings around the world. The department consists of a Global Diabetes Health Equity team, a Global Obesity Health team, and an Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships team.
