About New Energy Nexus

New Energy Nexus (NEX) is an international NGO that supports climate solutions and builds a more equitable clean energy economy. Our laser focus is on clean energy entrepreneurs: providing them with funds, accelerators, and networks to thrive. They are our main audience and our agent of change.

We started in California in 2004 and now operate across China, India, Southeast Asia, East and West Africa, and Australia. We have leveraged US$5.4 billion in investment and supported more than 11,000 entrepreneurs.

About the Role & Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to own the global channels of an international NGO and tell the stories of some of the world's most promising climate solutions. As a hands-on individual contributor role with strategic ownership, you will run our flagship digital channels — LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and email — with a clear mandate: grow our reach, expand engagement, and increase conversion rates.

With the CCO as your sign-off and partner, the editorial standard and the strategy for our global channels are yours to shape. You write and produce the stories of the entrepreneurs we back, and you help chapter teams surface the strongest content from the field. You will not carry it alone. A Marketing Manager, a Design and Brand Strategist, and a roster of consultants work alongside you, which keeps your own hours on strategy, editorial judgment, and the writing only you can do.

Working at New Energy Nexus

You will join a small but mighty global communications team inside a forward-thinking international NGO. We support comms leads in each of the 14 countries we operate in, manage all global channels, and steward the NEX brand and editorial process. Your manager will respect your work-life balance and fully support you in bringing your whole self to work.

This role is remote. You'll need strong wifi and flexibility to meet colleagues across time zones. Relocation assistance is not available.

A Typical Day

You start the day by checking how yesterday's LinkedIn posts and active ad campaigns performed, and what that means for this week's plan. A chapter comms lead in California pings you on Slack with a startup milestone worth telling; you rough out an angle and slot it into the editorial calendar. Mid-morning, you interview a founder in the Philippines for a blog and pull the best quotes for social. In the afternoon, you meet with colleagues, external partners and personal contacts in your network to gauge messaging for COP31. You end the day in the analytics dashboard, noting what's growing, what's flat, and what you'll test next.

Core Responsibilities

Channel growth & engagement

  • Own strategy and execution for our global channels: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and email
  • Set growth targets for each channel, run experiments, and double down on what works
  • Publish consistently, using each platform's native features to maximize reach and engagement
  • Scout and test new channels and formats where our audiences are heading
  • Strategize and execute monthly ad spend on LinkedIn, Meta, and Google, with support from the Marketing Manager in the team.

Storytelling & Content

  • Identify and write entrepreneur stories, online articles, and donor case studies based on interviews with founders and experts
  • Work with our Brand and Design Lead to create short-form video content
  • Commission and manage content production with consultants and vendors, from brief to final output (graphics, videos, etc.).
  • Produce the monthly newsletter and quarterly donor newsletter: copy, layout, segmentation, and performance

Editorial Direction

  • With initial support from the CCO, you will eventually own editorial review of content on global channels
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with chapter (country office) comms leads across 14 countries, under CCO direction and support
  • Maintain the editorial calendar and connect chapter stories to global moments and campaigns

Data & Analytics

  • You will maintain the global analytics dashboard and report monthly on channel performance, turning data into decisions: what to keep, what to change, what to drop
  • You will coordinate with chapter comms leads to obtain data – manually, or through shared tools – for the aforementioned dashboard

RequirementsRequired Skills
  • 5+ years in digital communications and content production, with proof you've grown channel reach and engagement
  • A strategic mindset coupled with ability to execute day-to-day editorial work
  • Climate or clean energy experience: you can hold your own in a conversation about the energy transition
  • Experience working globally or regionally, across cultures and time zones
  • Editorial judgment: You edit others' work quickly and kindly, and know a good story when you see one
  • Exceptional English copywriting, short and long form, including interviewing founders and experts
  • Basic design and short-form video skills (Canva essential; Adobe an asset; work samples will be requested)
  • Strong grasp of analytics and data collection: you measure what matters and adjust
  • End-to-end email marketing (Mailchimp an asset)
  • Familiarity with some or all of these tools in our tech stack: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Slack, Asana
  • You use AI tools 'thoughtfully' to improve productivity while applying strong editorial judgment and maintaining high standards for originality, and brand voice.
We hope you bring one or more of these bonus skills
  • Media relations and reputation management experience
  • Paid social experience
  • A second regional language (Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Thai, Mandarin, Filipino, Hindi)
  • Experience reaching entrepreneur or startup audiences
