Global Application Solution Leader

Global Application Solution Leader is responsible for developing application expertise across Laird's product portfolio, ensuring products are optimized not only for material performance but also for customer manufacturability, assembly, automation, dispensing /handability, visual inspections, reworkability and long-term application success.

This role serves as the global subject matter expert for customer application processes, and lead the development of application methodologies, troubleshooting approaches, test standards, application database, design guidelines, and best practices across all product lines with a strong focus on thermal.

The role under Product management team and works cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and FAE teams to convert customer pain points into product improvements, application guidelines, competitive differentiation, and new product development recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Global Application Excellence Leadership: Lead customer application requirements and application-related product performance. Develop and maintain application design guidelines, best practices, and troubleshooting methodologies. Establish application evaluation standards. Build a centralized application knowledge database.
  • Customer Application Support and Trouble Shooting: Lead resolution of complex customer application issues by partnering with FAE and Quality teams on customer escalations. Drive systematic root-cause identification and corrective actions. Develop replicable solutions or application recommendations that prevent recurring failures.
  • Product Application Development & NPD Supports: Define application evaluation requirements for new product introductions. Work with R&D to ensure customer application needs are incorporated into product design requirements. Provide recommendations to PM and R&D on current product modification.
  • Dispensing & Automation Capability Development: Build application guidelines for customer automation and manufacturing implementation. Interface with equipment suppliers to develop best-practice process recommendations.
  • Competitive & Market Intelligence: Analyze competitive products from an application-performance perspective. Identify emerging customer process trends, inspection requirements, automation needs, and manufacturing challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical education. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in thermal interface materials, EMI materials, Experience in electronic materials, semiconductor materials, adhesives, or related advanced materials is a plus. People leadership experience required.
  • Strong experience supporting customer manufacturing and assembly processes. Experience with thermal interface materials is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with dispensing systems, automation, manufacturing processes, or application engineering is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record working across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and customer-facing organizations.
