As a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel on the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Global Alternative Investment Solutions team, you will support our multi-billion-dollar alternative investment platform. The Global Alternative Investment Solutions business manages strategies across the alternative investment spectrum, including hedge funds, private credit, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and transportation. The role includes both the creation of new funds and the maintenance of existing funds, as well as customized alternative portfolios tailored to individual client needs. You will utilize your expertise in open-end and closed-end private funds, and in-depth knowledge of investment management legal issues, including relevant regulations and guidance on investment advisory matters. You will work closely with an experienced group of professionals and have significant responsibilities for guiding tactical and strategic business initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and counsel to J.P. Morgan Asset Management Global Alternative Investment Solutions businesses, with a focus on the hedge fund and private credit asset classes.
- Provide legal support and advice across open and closed ended hedge funds-of-funds, private credit funds-of-funds, registered alternative investment funds, separately managed account mandates, funds-of-one, sub-advisory arrangements and other products that relate to alternatives strategies.
- Advise the business on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues relevant to the formation, structuring and management of fund products, including negotiation of investment management agreements, side letters and other contracts.
- Work closely with other members of the Legal Department and other control functions (e.g., Compliance, Risk) both within the U.S. and globally to identify and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with professionals across Legal, Compliance, and Risk functions.
- Participate in business committees and collaborate with colleagues across product strategy and development, finance, marketing, portfolio management, Compliance, Risk, and the Legal Department.
- Oversee and manage outside counsel efficiently.
- Coordinate as needed with other divisions of Asset & Wealth Management.
- Provide legal support for special projects and cross-Alternatives initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- JD degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant law firm, financial institution or comparable experience
- Knowledge of investment management legal issues, including pertinent regulations and guidance on investment advisory issues
- Prior experience in structuring vehicles for hedge funds, private credit funds, fund of funds, and/or separately managed accounts, either at a law firm, a hedge fund or fund of funds, or similar organization.
- Knowledge of relevant laws (e.g. Investment Advisers Act)
- If from a law firm, desire to use legal skills within a business context and move from being an external adviser to one that has direct responsibility for leading and completing projects in a high growth business.
- Demonstrated legal analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills, with proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to business partners or clients
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making capabilities
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and manage competing deadlines effectively
