Job Description:
Summary:
This position involves performing GIS work to support a range of projects. Tasks may include map and figure creation, data formatting and editing, data management, data analysis, and quality control. The person in this position will act as the primary internal consultant for GIS projects in the office in which they are based. The position will require identifying, determining, and communicating GIS best practices and resources for technical solutions for both internal and external clients. Project responsibilities may include working with and interpreting aerial photos, performing analysis of both raster and vector data, completing database entries and queries, performing database management, working with internet map applications, coordinating GIS work with other software applications (e.g., AutoCAD, Google Earth), and using standard GIS extensions.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or a related GIS field

Demonstrated interest in GIS with minimum of 16 credits of GIS coursework

Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS Pro Suite and/or ArcGIS 10.x for map creation, spatial data analysis, and data management

Experience sourcing and working with data and imagery from a range of public and private data sources (e.g., USGS, EPA, NOAA, Esri)

Ability and willingness to work independently and on teams

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

A flexible working style, self-motivation, and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules to meet project commitments

Capacity to thrive in fast-paced work situations

Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in GIS, geography, or a related GIS field

Certificate in geographic information systems
-
Field experience working with ArcGIS Collector/Field Maps/Survey123 mobile data collection applications (including iPad applications)

Experience with GPS data collection and processing
-
Experience working with Esri’s ArcGIS Online
-
Experience with ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabases Scripting/programming skills (JavaScript, Python)
-
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, gINT
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Salt Lake City, Utah, offices.
