Requirements
What you’ll Do
- Lead end-to-end GIS data migration between GE Smallworld and ESRI Utility Network.
- Analyze and map Smallworld schemas and data models to ESRI Utility Network.
- Design migration strategies for structure networks, domain networks, asset groups, asset types, and associations.
- Handle network topology, connectivity rules, containment, and association migration.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and post-migration quality checks.
- Support cutover, rollback, and delta migration strategies.
- Strong hands-on experience with ESRI Utility Network (UN).
- Domain Networks, Structure Networks, Asset Groups & Asset Types.
- Network Rules, Associations, Connectivity & Containment.
- ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong understanding of Smallworld GIS data models.
- Experience extracting and transforming Smallworld utility data.
- Exposure to Magik-based environments.
Must Haves:
Data Migration & ETL:
- Large-scale utility GIS data migration experience.
- FME or FME-alternative migration approaches.
- Python / ArcPy-based migration frameworks.
- GDAL/OGR and database-driven ETL.
Databases & Automation:
- Oracle Spatial, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server.
- Strong SQL and spatial query optimization.
- Python scripting for automation and validation.
Added Advantage:
- Live utility network migration experience.
- Utility Network mock and production cutover handling.
- Migration without heavy dependency on FME.
Good to Have:
- Experience working on live utility modernization or digital transformation programs.
- Hands-on exposure to Utility Network production deployments and real-time cutovers.
- Experience migrating electric, gas, water, or telecom utility networks.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, services publishing, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Magik scripting or Smallworld customization.
- Experience reducing dependency on FME through custom Python/ArcPy frameworks.
- Understanding of versioning, branch versioning, and multi-user editing workflows.
- Cloud exposure (Azure/AWS) for GIS deployments.
- Experience working in offshore–onsite or global delivery models.
- Strong stakeholder communication and client-facing consulting experience.
