As a GIS Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise GIS systems while contributing to meaningful projects that drive our 2026 workplan. This role is designed for graduate students or seniors planning to begin graduate school.
What you’ll do:
- Support the administration and maintenance of web maps, applications, and datasets in the GIS enterprise environment
- Interpret substation one-line diagrams to digitize and attribute equipment features in the utility network model
- Collaborate with business units to update geospatial datasets, build data theme inventories, and evaluate new data needs
- Provide custom maps and spatial analysis for users and specialized project teams
- Support land-related activities, including interpreting legal descriptions, verifying parcel data, and assisting with field data collection and processing
What you’ll need:
- Enrollment in a graduate program, or status as a senior planning to begin graduate school
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- An interest in applying geospatial technologies to real-world utility and energy challenges
- Ideally completed coursework or in progress: Applied/Advanced GIS, Internet Geospatial Science, Interpretation of Aerial Photography, Remote Sensing, GPS Surveying & Mapping, GIS Programming
- (Preferred) Additional coursework in: Plane Surveying, Legal Aspects of Boundary Surveying, Surveying Computations, Environmental Assessment, Landscape Analysis
