We seek a highly skilled Esri GIS Enterprise Administrator & AWS GIS Cloud Architect to lead the deployment, management, and optimization of bare metal and cloud-based GIS enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise administration, AWS cloud architecture, and hybrid GIS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across diverse deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Must be able to obtain a federal government security clearance.
· ArcGIS Enterprise Administration: Full-stack administration of ArcGIS Enterprise, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server (Federated and Standalone), ArcGIS Data Store, Web Adaptors, and additional Esri server components such as ImageServer, Notebook Server, and GeoAnalytics Server.
· GIS Cloud Architecture: Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure GIS solutions in AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
· Enterprise Geodatabases (EGDB): Deploy, configure, and manage ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases in AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and on-premises database systems, implementing best practices for replication, versioning, indexing, and performance tuning.
· Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Utilize Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and CI/CD pipelines to automate GIS infrastructure provisioning and configuration. Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
· System Administration: Manage Windows and Linux environments for ArcGIS Server, ensuring efficient system performance, security, and patch management.
· Security & Compliance: Implement robust security policies, including IAM roles, firewalls, database encryption, VPN configurations, and cloud governance to protect GIS assets.
· Performance Optimization & Monitoring: Configure ArcGIS Monitor and other tools to optimize server performance, database queries, caching strategies, and cloud resource utilization.
· Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design and implement redundancy, failover, and backup/recovery strategies for mission-critical GIS applications.
· Networking & Cloud Integration: Architect VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and hybrid networking solutions to enable seamless integration of GIS systems across cloud and on-premise environments.
Required Qualifications:
· Esri Enterprise Administration – Extensive experience managing ArcGIS Enterprise deployments, including Portal, Server, Data Store, and Web Adaptors.
· Cloud & Hybrid GIS Expertise – Proven ability to design and manage GIS solutions in AWS Commercial, AWS GovCloud, and hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
· Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Proficiency with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar tools for automating cloud GIS infrastructure.
· Enterprise Geodatabase Management – Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle with skills in database performance tuning, backup strategies, and role-based access control (RBAC).
· Automation & DevOps – Experience with CI/CD pipelines, scripting in Python, PowerShell, and Bash to streamline deployments and administrative tasks.
· System Administration – Strong background in managing Windows Server and Linux environments, including patching, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
· Networking & Security – Experience with AWS VPC design, IAM policies, VPNs, database security, and GIS system hardening.
· High Availability & Disaster Recovery – Ability to design resilient, scalable GIS architectures with failover and backup solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Current CAC holder.
· Advanced GIS & Web Development – Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS REST API, and other geospatial tools.
· Database Optimization – Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and spatial database indexing for enterprise GIS data management.
· Security & Compliance – Security+ certification is a plus, focusing on cloud security, risk management, and compliance standards.
· Continuous Learning – Passion for staying updated with Esri, AWS, GIS automation, and enterprise geodatabase best practices.
